I take my car out to go to the shop for some fab work and this is what happens.
If anyone knows of where I can find the parts cheap. Let me know.

I honestly can't tell that great from the pictures on what you need or what could be buffed out.. but on a wild long shot I can state that I do have spare parts from an 01 headlight that you could use - a Hood w/Visteon scoop but no front bumper at this time..

checked at work here and we do sell the OEM front bumper at an insane 214.00 -- I could get my discount on it which is probably around 40% off on that part but thats still probably more than you want to pay.. especially when I still need the part shipped to me which would be pricy as hell

They might end up totaling it out.
Last time I had an accident, they had to paint the whole car. No one could get the paint to match. Ford just made the pearl way to complicated on it from what I hear. And last time the body shop had to eat it because they said they could match it. This time I am telling the shop that they need to understand how hard it is to match the paint, that way I don't have to argue with the shop and insurance for three months on the deal.
And it has some front suspension damage also, which as we all know happens when you just sneeze on the cougar.
I am just having a bad day.

Oh, Crispy thanks for the offer. I will just be getting all new headlights and I will not be going stock on the body. This time I will do what I want to do since they are flipping the bill.

Hey Stangkiller, i have a front and rear bumper off of ebay i am watching and it is from Nebraska, they are yellow but better than nothing for the price.
StangKiller
04-28-2005, 08:52 PM
Thanks, for that price I can't pass it up. I would even be able to upgrade my rear bumper.

wow... GREAT deal... someone should delete that link out so no one else bids on it.

When I talked to you earlier I forgot to tell you. We might have a 99-00 bumper cover here at work. I'll have to see if it's useable.

It's cool, I want to stick to the 2002 or even a body kit might be in the works if it all comes out ok. Might as well upgrade if they are paying for it, if you know what I mean.

Sorry about that Mike!! I know how it feels. My coug's been backed into 3 times, sideswiped, t-boned, rear ended, you name it. At least mine was black though. Good luck! :)

now you know why I don't drive mine very much... any sort of accident and mine would be totalled.. the cost of paint alone would do it.. a simple fender bender would yield an incredible claim at 800 a pint for paint.

I know, I don't drive it much either because of that reason about them totaling it out. I was just running it to the fab shop. They say all accidents happen within a few miles of home.
I will know more this afternoon. I am just waiting for the other person's insurance to call me.

what exactly happened?
Casey388
04-29-2005, 12:04 PM
Don't worry about it, not like i can afford right now to paint them silver, or get headlights to match. But yeah, as Justin asked, how did it happen? Someone back into you or run a red light or something?
StangKiller
04-29-2005, 08:09 PM
She ran a red light and I locked up the brakes just in time so it was just a graze, but it was bad enough for me. Her comment was, " I was looking ahead at the traffic so I didn't notice what it was, when I looked up a block back it was still yellow ." The officer really liked that one. I was lucky enough to have a witness stop and give the officer a statement as to what happened.
I am sure her insurance company will be calling soon to let me know what they have to say. I am just hoping it is not going to be a fight, because I don't want my insurance company involved.
I am looking now for the most expensive shops in town to give me a quote for the body work. I am trying to pull a few strings that way so I can do alittle extra this time around.
Oh, casey if you are willing to pay more than 200 for those bumpers go ahead. That is my max and the way the betting is going over them I am sure they will go for more than that.

Well, I have all the costs back from the estimators and they are just over 8k, so I am guessing they are going to salvage it, but either way it is good for me. If they don't I am going to just fix the necessities and turn it into a real track car. The interior will be gone, mostly and I am going to just beat the living daylights out of it. My dream come true for my car. And I finally get to do my flat black creation.

damn that sucks. dont let her die though!
flat black will look sweet.

StangKiller

I am still planning on fest and still bringing the car. That is if Tim comes through. If not I will still most likely be coming, just going to be towing it now.

8K? it really didn't look like that much damage... isn't that more than the bluebook on the car?

It's four for the body work alone. And she pushed the lower radiator mount all the way back into the engine and guess where the supercharger and driveline for the charger are, up front, so they are making noise and the shop says replacement in the quote and they are not cheap.
Oh, Crispy. I talked to Steve Padfield at Vortech today and he said that I should definitely get the proposal out to him to take a look see. He was wondering how often your car gets in the HIN circuit and for how long. Let me know.

sucks about your damage.. makes more sense now.. I was just judging things by pictures alone.. as far as my car I hit every show that comes to the McCormick Center in Chicago which includes HIN and I've done that for the last 4 years.. this year I'll be taking the car to 3 other HINs worldwide.. Haven't figure out my towing situation yet but if any sponsor is interesting in taking the car on the complete tour for me (like Blaupunkt did with Bob Mulls Evil Z) I'd definately allow it as long as I had it for Cougar Fest.
Keep me updated and if you have any additional questions gimme a ring (608-239-7531) we seriously need to start building the engine and tranny up soon... I will be delivering the heads to a certified machine shop tomorrow or Monday.
thanks again.. I appreciate the work your doing for me :)

Well I got the call from the insurance company today. They are going to pay out the 10k for the damages. I should be able to get away with doing just some minimal work (1k) and come out way ahead. (They just bought my car for me, so now my wife will be off my back about the cost it)
The car is going to be stripped now for my race version. Flat Black here we come.
So if there is something you wanted off of my dash let me know. The nitrous setup is going to come off after Cougarfest, but everything else is going to stay.
