well i decide to change my cars oil, i got underneath there and cannot take off the plug to the oil pan because the y-pipe bend is right behind it. So a socket wont fit, and i dont have enough power to turn it with a wrench because its on very tight, is there a special tool or something that can let me take this bolt off so i can change my oil?

Not on a v6...the Y-pipe is way too close. I use a wrench then use a hammer and tap...and I stress TAP on the end till it breaks loose. Once it breaks you can get it off with your hand. Be carefull if your exhaust is still hot!

If you take another wrench, and lock it into place with the wrench that is on the bolt, you can break it loose real easy. Its like an extension for your wrench. In order to make it work you have to put the closed end side of the wrench on the bolt, leaving the open side on the outside. Now you take the other wrench, and use that open side to lock the two together. Works like a charm.

Hi!
Does this adapter or the other one we sometime see with a small drain tube (tried to find one on the Net and I didn't have much luck) work and would they fit on a V6?

I use an extension every time. It clears the Y no problem.

the y-pipe runs around the oil pan not behind it where the plug is. the only place its in the way is for the oil filter.......

its not worth it to change your own oil, what you save $2 just save your self the trouble and get it changed at a shop.
mine cost $20 at a family friends shop
and $50 at Mr.LUBE with a 50 point inpection ,top up all fluids free etc...

put the wrench on it, put your hand around the wrench and swing your other fist at it and hit your hand, it usually breaks them loose.

You can get oil changes here for $10-15 - plus in the last 10 years or so, there are laws about used oil disposal. That alone makes it difficult to change your own oil - unless you just don't care about laws and the environment.

Very cool about the recycling...I would do my own, but I can't find a place that takes oil from the public.

I think most auto part stores recycle oil from the public for a small fee. I work at a shop so I do my oil changes there, but when I do it at home I have a small drum and a drain pan. Once the drum is full you can take it to any auto part store that recycles the oil. Call around im sure you can find the right facilities to do so.

most of my friends with modded cars dont take their cars in for service unless it is something major.
for the simple fact of jealousy, if one of the workers sees something that he/she likes in your car, they have access to your phone number and address. it just makes it that much easier to find your car and steal your hard earned stuff.
a couple of workers at my local jiffy lube got busted for servicing cars, writing down addresses, and then breaking into the cars. sad, but true.
