Launching????

Iam heading to the quarter mile tomorrow with my new cougar so i can get a base line stock time on it!

Was just wondering what is the best way to launch a 2.5 V6 5spd??? anyone have a way that has worked great for them in the QM??? Thank you!!!

Check out the Dragstip section of NECO.. you'll be able to find much more useful info there..Maybe one of the mods would be nice enough tto transport this over there for you so you don't need to repost it ;)

i would say for a stock cougar...just rev it to around 3g's and ride the clutch a little from there. whatever you do DO NOT LET IT WHEEL HOP. i promise it will break the diff if you do...maybe the first and maybe not the second time...but eventually it will. as a matter of fact it took me a long time and alot a wheel hop before mine let go, but it is almost 100% guaranteed to happen. plus riding the clutch always gets me a better 60ft. time anyways!

OMG that sucks so bad...i swear right when i saw that you replied just 10 seconds i was like "oh god he replied i wonder if he went to the track and..."

One other peice of advice...if you have any kind of mechanical skills at all please do the repair yourself. I had very limited skills (pretty much just oil changes and an intake install) under my belt when i took mine out and fixed the broken diff. There are so many people on these boards that can help you with all of your questions that it can be done very easily!

i got 1 run it was [censored] though! it was my first time going down the quarter mile ever! my reaction time was [censored] 1.258 and i launched at 2500 rpm and it did a bunch of wheel hope then did a nose dive and then went! it was prety [censored]ty but I ran a 16.3@86.02mph! the sewcond time is when i blew the diff. I launched at 4500rpm and it did some wheel hope and just snapped lol!

so are you gonna fix it yourself? if so go tot the tranny section and search for all you needed part numbers...there's no need to do it twice so do it right the first time.

-shift tower
-clutch
-flywheel
-torsen/quaife
