I have read the thread and it seems that some people have an easy time changing the headlights and some not. I want an honest opinion from anyone and everyone. Is this something that I should undertake or is it not worthwhile? My 99 headlights have become so cloudy (not moisture, just bad plastic) that I have a hard time driving at night. I bought the Xenon headlights that are supposed to be so great, but they are worse than factory issue. I am at a loss and I really like the way that the 02 headlights look, but I do not want to have to chop my car apart and hope that they fit. Please help. I need the simplest modification directions, or for someone to tell me JUST DON'T DO IT!

Thanks a bunch! :)

For the 01-02 headlights to fit, all you have to do is take off the cap that is held on by the metal clip/strap thing (the thing you take off to get to the bulbs). The how-to says you need to cut the radiator support.....and you can do this if you want to leave the cap on, but is not necessary.

so all your saying is if i buy 01-02 head lights, they will fit if i go "backless" thats all???

they are going to be a tight fit because of the bumper also. they may rub a little bit.

Josh (PhoenixCougar) put 02 headlights on his 99, and he just left the back off and they bolted right in, and he had no issues.

Simple 5 dollar 3m plastic polish will clean up your stock 99-00 lamps.

There is modification needed if you want these to fit legitimately. Also, they might not fit correctly if you have a stock 99-00 front bumper. The 01-02 lamps are larger than the 99-00 lamps. Bumper modification may be necessary.

If you leave the caps off, you are leaving the bulbs and all of the insides open to water/condensation and that isn't a good thing. I would just try plastic polish first, worked great on mine.
