Hey guys. Does anyone have the cruise cable needed for the svt tb? I know you guys parted out a car, i figured maybe i could pick up one from you guys instead of paying 40 bucks online and wait for shipping. I just bought the package from a member, he first stated it had all the linkage, but than i asked him which cable it came with and he said he didn't have a cable... wtf? Maybe a bracket too, he needs to pm me back. Could I just grab a cruise cable and bracket from a 5 speed contour?
Thanks!
-Chris

If I were you, I'd drop in at U-Wrench-It over on Groveport and grab one off of a wrecked Contour. They never have any Cougars there, but for a part like that, a Tour will do fine. And they will charge you about 3 dollars for one, plus a buck to get in the door.
I hope he sends you a bracket with it, because those things are hard to get. It took Keim Ford about a month to get one for me, and it was about $55... FOR A FRIGGIN PIECE OF TWISTED METAL WITH HOLES IN IT!!!
Man, Chris, your car will love you with the SVT induction and MSDS/Borla package. You're not gonna believe the pull...

Wow... I feel ripped off now. He originally told me the uim/tb and all the linkage... meaning everything to hook it up correct? Frustrating. I'm gonna stop by U-Wrench it today and pick up a cable, I'm not quite sure what the bracket looks like though, it's 40 bucks from fordpartsonline.. i'm assuming the bracket for the svt tb is unique?
Thanks andy. I need to go research what this cable looks like.

The cable is no big deal. A cruise cable from any Cougar or Contour with a MANUAL transmission will hook right up to the SVT TB.
THe bracket is totally unique to the SVT. No ordinary 2.5 bracket, manual or automatic, will work. Somebody just posted a thread about the part numbers for all that stuff in the 2.5 forum. Check the part number to make sure you're getting the right thing.
Good luck. It's worth it.

maverick: what's that gasket to? the uim - lim gasket? i heard you could reuse that?

That's the throttle body gasket. You will need one of those, as the stock 2.5 gasket is kinda small by comparison...

It's the gasket between the TB and the UIM. You can reuse it. The stock one is a little smaller than the SVT but it will work. Depending on how old the stock one is you might want to replace it anyways. In that case you might as well get the right one.

No go on U-Wrench it... i was surprised. i only saw 2 contours(1 zetec, 1 2.5 auto), and an auto mystique. there was one good 3.0 i saw, but i wasn't sure if it would work, and even more i can't figure out how to get the sucker off w/o taking the hole bracket.
