I was curious to see if my IMRC was working properly, so I checked. I had my dad rev the engine while reading the digital tach. in the diagnostic mode. I looked at the IMRC cable and spring and noticed it wasn't opening until just after 4000rpm. WTF? It's sticking or something, will cleaning the inside fix it, or do I need a new one?

That is the proper point to open with no load.

do that mod.... and you end up with a small light inside the car that will light up only when the secondaries physically open..... if you are looking for some peace of mind if your secondaries are working or not... this is it.
