the cd43 wil bolt up the the lincoln LS.

Do you already have the engine? If not then pick up an escape 01-03 engine. It will be an easier swap with the same if not more potential than the LS motor at a Much cheaper cost in the long run and shortrun for that matter

How do u figure? LS engine is 30 and change hp more then the escape ... i figure i could get the LS engine up to about 275-300 hp between polishing, intake trio (intake, cold air, ram air), and exhaust

Escape starts at 200 ... so when i hit 300 hp on my lincoln, the escape would still be at 270

just get a '01 oval port. it will be cheaper, and less of a hassle

*sits back to watch this unfold into a comedy*

I don't think anyone here has tried that swap.

I tihnk the best thing you can do is look for a lincoln tranny and compare the two. If the bolt patterns are the same you shouldn't have any problem mounting it. Check to make sure the shaft and converter on the Lincoln engine are same size, so it will fit in the cougar tranny.

Some ways to check would be:
1. Go to a junkyard and look at tranny/ engine, take pictures for comparison
2. Get a Lincoln repair manual / CD and look at schematics
3. Search online for Lincoln LS forum...one may exist...you could get more info there
4. Call a ford dealership...they may give you more info

A major problem you might run into is the power handling of the cougar tranny. I have no idea what the power rating is, but have seen it on the boards before. You may have to beef up the tranny to hold 300hp. This seems to be costly in itself.

On a side note, the Lincoln tranny may be better for the power handling. It is made to handle more stock power, so it may be better at handling the higher hp that you are seeking. Best thing to look into would be drive train loss effects on the hp. Compare the two trannies and see which one has less loss. If they both would work on your project, then go with the one that is more dependable and has less hp loss!

Something else to remember is that the ECU also control the tranny. SO if you are changing the engine you will need to do a custom chip. IIRC. a chip can change the shifting points on the tranny as well. It may be better to use the Lincoln ECU, if possible, in combination with the engine and tranny swap.

I haven't done the swap or looked into the swap. Hoping to give you some ideas though.

Do you actually believe this to be true? Tuning a car is not a straight scale. There are sooooo many possibilities that changes the hp. What is the tunability of the lincoln engine?

Look at why the lincoln has the extra 30 hp. You may through that advantage out the window when you do the swap. Is it the head set up, intake set up, cam set up, displacement? Are you going to keep all that stuff when you do the swap?

I'm all for a new swap. Its always nice to have options. I agree with you on the fact that it is always nice to start out with a higher hp engine, all else remaining the same, but make sure you have researched it. Make sure you know what you are getting into.

Good Luck.

ok first you should know u can't use the ls6 tranny, it's phukin RWD! second I think there are some problems with using rwd accessories on a fwd. I wouldn't know for sure because I only play with rwd shiznit. but what i can tell you is that the fwd based 3.0 heads are the lame ones. I would get a taurus block and strap on ls6 heads. the ls6 heads are direct acting bucket tappet heads by cosworth, ie the cam acts directly on the valve spring. the fwd applications use a head with gay roller followers, which cause lash and play between your cam and valves, not half as responsive. try looking up your power plants on wikipedia, it'll tell you a krap ton about the motors history, design, development and most of all variences in the different applications. like if you do a full hybrid job, ie ecu and all other managment parts swap you can use a jag vvt system, mucho coolo.
