hey everyone.... I got a CF hood awhile back and I noticed that it is starting to get pretty cloudy and discolored...I never got it clearcoated is the problem.....its tough to tell from pics but it looks like it could be made better by buff/sand the gelcoat then try to clear it.....Opinions?

I kept getting conflicting info when I bought this hood.....my bodyshop guy said it wouldn't need to be cleared and I believed him....it really looked good for awhile , but now I'm at the point where I wanna just paint the thing (instead of re-modifying the latch for my less than perfect stock hood)...

not sure if if any of you have tried anything for this?

wetsanding and applying a good clearcoat can't hurt.

I should also add that it kinda became this way after waxing it....for the longest time I never waxed it

use a high speed buffer and rubbing compound and it will take you a few hours but it will come back. after that have it cleared

You heard em. I had mine cleared a while back. It seems the shop had missed a spot on the upper top edge of the hood. It's hardly noticeable.

Other than that mine looks new.

Also if you can, try to keep it out of the sun a lot.

Ok thanks craig! I assume I can rent one of those buffers at a hardware store? ....is there anything else I should know? how many pads to buy etc. ...I'm a little naive when it comes to autobody stuff

OK I rented a buffer for like $30 and was like $2 for the rubbing compound....amazing it looks sooo much better
