I'm posting in the electrical area, because there really ins't a better place.

For 10 years, I drove SHOs - all of the ones that I have seen have Electronic Climate Controls (ECC or EATC) - you know, the kind where you can set a specific digital temperature and the system will automatically maintain it. This is one of the first things I noticed about the Cougar - no ECC available. Since NECO is mod-central, this got me thinking. This post actually has two parts:

1. This is the second pic of a european Cougar that has Electronic Climate Controls. Is this available here? Is it a simple plug in? Are there other parts needed?

2. Here is the unit that is in the SHO - and many other Ford products. It is 1 DIN high.

Can this be plugged in (and molded in somewhere) and operate the HVAC? Is there another blower control that the other cars have that would need to be added, too? Do these ECC units require a special section in the wiring harness?

So, all of you Ford wiring harness and HVAC experts chime in. The unit in the second image is plentiful. I just dont know if there is special wiring that does not exist in our Cougars that would cause all of the work involved in adapting this, both in the dash and the wiring - cause it to be a wasted effort.

Ideas? Comments? Thanks for listening....george

George, unfortunately this is a dissapointing end. This has been unsuccessfully tried many times. The European versions have entirely different 14A005 body harnesses with proprietary wiring for the EATC. It is not possible to add it to our cars without replacing all body wiring with the European one. Even I wouldn't attempt it. As for the SHO unit, same thing would apply because the architecture does not exist.

Ok, thanks, I figured you might know. And I also figured that was the answer you might have. That's too bad.
