I buy my Cougar at Jun 2000.
I installed a Trubendz tubing kit and catless Y pipe the last month and It have a O2 sensor hole, but my Cougar donīt have this sensor.
Any one can clarify me it?
I have other doubts, like I donīt know if my Cougar have return fuel system or not, or if I have knot sensor...
I know many Cougars in Spain, but mine is different the others... My package tray is different, I donīt have brake light in the interior console...
What important differences have my Cougar between 1998-2000?

If you have no O2 sensor in the Y-pipe, your car is a 2001 or 2002 model. Only the 99 and 00 models have O2 sensors in the Y-pipe. You will need to plug that hole or weld it shut.

You have a returnless fuel system. Only the earliest 99 models have return-style fuel systems.

Only the 99 models have brake wear lights in the overhead console.

Ok, thanks.
What other differences there are between 99 and 2001 Cougars?

Besides minor cosmedic changes in the bumpers and interior (dash cowl, center console, ceiling console, door sills, cd player, rims, etc) the major changes are in the fuel system (as mentioned above), the strut mounts are different (99-00 mounts look different and sit 1/2" lower in the rear than the 01-02's), and LIM's (Lower Inatke Manifold's) are different (01-02's are honed and are SVT rated where as the 99-00's are not. There has to be loads more, but I'm just thinking off the top of my head right now.

But Bennett9000 say that my car is 2001 becouse I donīt have O2 sensor in the Y-pipe. But I donīt have the cosmetic differences that you say.
Is possible that my car have return fuel system?

If you check the manufacture date on the door jam you could prob get a little more info. You bought it in june 2000, but it could have sat on lot for a year.

Thats easy... here is what you do

Directly underneath your throttle body is where the fuel line(returnless) or fuel lines (return) enter the fuel rail wihich is connected to the lower intake manifold.

If you look directly below your throttle body and see only 1 line going into the fuel rail on the lower intake manifold you have a "returnless" fuel system

If you look directly below the throttle body and you see 2 fuel lines going into the fuel rail on the lower intake manifold you have a "return" style fuel system.

You can also look at the sticker located in the door jam on your drivers side door. If it says anything after 6/99 then you have a returnless system. Since it was mentioned you live in spain... your drivers side door may be on the opposite side as our American cars.

I canīt find that sticker :-(
I look below my throttle body, I think that I saw two small rigid pipes. Is it?
