As of 10 am this morning, I am no longer a Cougar owner. I traded it in on a 2005 Acura TL with navi - (What a machine - 270 hp/238tq, 5.1 channel DVD-A, Bluetooth handsfree, voice command for audio, navi and climate control, etc, etc - and 4 doors and more back seat space for my kids)

I haven't been around much in the last few years, but I know that some of the people from the earlier days of the board have also moved on...Mike, 9Livez, Palerider, Goose. Thanks to all for organizing the various get togethers that I have had the pleasure of attending - Cougarfest 2K and 2K1, the first CanAm meet, etc.

It's been a slice.

Nice... and congrats. I took a TL for a test drive and liked it very much. Decided to just keep my car instead in the end. Oh -- btw... A manual TL tried to race me... twice... and got smacked down both times. Fast cars, but the 3.0's faster... (but that's not why you bought it.. right?).

Still might end up in one myself before too long.. (or a G35, or a Jag X-type, or a MazdaSpeed 6, or or or ... :) )

Oh wow! Someone remembered me  . Yeah, its been a VERY long time since I posted anything here.....then again its been 3 years since the accident  . I still think about how I could've modded my car, but the past is in the past now. I driving a rather utilitarian (boring) 2003 Chev Impala. I kinda had no other choice because of my car insurance. I will admit though, if I could afford the up coming 2006 Mustang Shelby GT500, I'd get it.

Any ways, enough about me, congrats on the new car and have fun!

The TL is my first pick if I had the cash. I think it is the best looking new sedan I have seen in a long time (as a family man with soccer and dance class delivery service along with many other family taxi service runs on my Cougar). I do find it hard to believe the TL can be beaten off the line so easily. I know this may an unpopular opinion on this site but I have always been a big fan of Honda and Acura, although the new Infinity G35 looks like a strong contender due to rear wheel drive.

I'd love to get some pics, if this crappy weather ever improves...no plans right now, but you never know...

Manual on these cars is kind of tricky, a lot depends on the driver - then again...the car was probably stock - compared to your list of mods.

This car is plenty fast enough for me in stock form (way quicker than my Cougar)- and the power delivery is so smooth it's almost scary how quickly you can end up putting your driver's license in jeopardy...and I'm still taking it easy on her since I'm only 300 kms into the 1200 km break-in period.

Good stuff.... those TL's are plenty fast. Decent value too, vs. their german competitors in that segment.

Exactly...at least $10k cheaper than 330i, $25k cheaper than 530 (really the model it should be compared to and the design target for Acura), comparably equipped...and Honda reliability on top of it all.

I looked at Mazda 6, G35c, BMW 3 series, X-type, Volvo S40, Legacy GT - kept coming back to TL as the best vehicle for my needs.
