Ok...

Here's something weird. My car was very dirty, and I noticed there was an area where rain and snow weren't really sticking on the front bumper. Looked like some oil had gotten splashed up on it or something.

Anyway, today I pop the hood to check the oil, and I notice that the hood is REALLY greasy! I look around, and the underside of the hood is caked in oil. The oil on the front bumper was actually from the stuff under the hood dropping onto it.

I look around, and the VALVE COVER BREATHER HOSE is OFF the valve cover. custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif

Sooooo...... how does this happen? I can't recall someone working on the car anytime recently, and I didn't do it myself. (I haven't been tinkering at all during the winter).

Also... is there any risks associated with having had the breather hose off for.... ?? who knows how long.

Massiv.

Very high rpm, excessive blow-by, rubber deterioration from passing oil.
