I recently tried the Cobra 9210 and Escort Passport 7500 and found that if I am going to "trust" a detector, it needs to be top quality and these two just don't cut it. I was dead set on the Valentine One, but recent reviews have shown that the Escort Passport 8500 X50 rates higher than the V1!!!! So, I picked one up today. I have already hardwired the detector to fit right above the mirror and wired it through the cd player so the detector turns on and shuts off with the car:) But, I just found through some obscure web site that "Minnesota Statute 169.71 Windshield ...No person shall drive or operate any motor vehicle with any objects suspended between the driver and the windshield." Argghhh! I want the detector to AVOID tickets, not to get one for having an object suspended between me and the windshield!
Does anyone know or has anyone mounted a detector in the cougar somewhere other than the windshield while still maintaining a good clear "sight" for the detector?

wire it into your headliner and down your a-pod into your dash... and keep it right above ur mirror.. it'll look stock ... im sure cops wont really notice it.. unless they really like it

you might get pulled over with or without the detector because i have been victim to a cop askin if i had one but it was my little ice on the road icon on my upper console and i have heard stories of other cougars owners that had that issue.

Anyone have some websites Im looking to pick one up
with the lights up there... can we tap into the power and ground it up there? That would rock AND it would free up the cig lighter

humm am i the only one with an accual remote sensor mounted behind the grill... my "head unit" of the dector sits in front of my gauges...
how'd you do it? I cracked mine open... and it seemed just like one big piece for the light/radar or whatever to come in... unless you just relocated the lcd.

Bel tronics makes a "remote style"
Yes you can tap into a 12V source in the headliner..
If you have a Sunroof you tap into the Sunroof powersource
If you don't have a sunroof, you can still tap into the Sunroof source(its still there)

mine came from the factory like that with remote sensors you can mount where ever you want... its optional to mount a 2nd sensor on the back some where if wanted and came with a lazer senser you mount up near the rear view mirror.... kinda cool to have... nothing all that amazing BUT theres not a cop in the land that would spot it if he looked for it.
