okay i am still in the big desert but i am trying to clarify on the svt package install

I am ordering all of the LARGE pitch componets that fast cougar had posted

Some of the clarification thai am needing is :
Can the install be done with the engine still in the car or should I pull the engine to install the cams?
Also with being somewhat mechanically inclined could this be a weekend project?

I also bought
svt UIM/lim,
svt tb,
bidding currently on a svt ecu and #19 injectors.

also purchasing all the gaskets , the new bracket, and the correct throttle cable.


and the clarification i need is can just get the AZDC chip burnt to the svt ecu engine code or do i need the svt ecu just for the svt cams and the #19 injectors or will the stock ecu and AZDC chip surfice.


AM I MISSING ANYTHING for the swap.This will all be transferred as soon as I get my 3L.

What's up, man. Ok, you can have AZDC use an SVT basline program, and there is no need to worry about SVT ECU's, and getting PATS reflashed, and all that hassle. The program overrides most/all this stuff anyway, and when they splice in the SVT baseline program, you're done. Not to worry.

Just a few notes on your parts list, though.
-I don't think you need the sprocket, because it's a low-wear item, and you can re-use your 2.5 one.
-The chain guides are re-useable. Save your money.
-The timing chain tensioners and tensioner arms are re-usable/interchangeable. Save your cash.

You CAN install this stuff with the engine in the car, but it's much easier to pull it. Unfortunately, it's a PITA to pull the engine. Hard to do it all in the car though, that's for sure. There is very minimal clearance to get the timing cover off, work on the rear-head cams, etc. Much easier to pull it and do it, which is why people then suggest throwing a 3L block underneath those heads/SVT stuff... since you got it out anyway.

i felt bad for always hi-jacking threads by everyone else for my questions so i posted my own.

i thought the svt were large pitch nad the non-svt were small pitch timing componets. so i needed the sprocketand chain because they were different

that sux, to late i guess i am bidding on asvt ecu right now on ebay and i am not a dick to not pay. i am asking him to re-post it for sale and get rid of my bids so i don't have to pay.

and ford-parts.com does not have the TB, bracket,cable or the uim/lim gaskets availabe

It would be much easier and most likely even faster to just pull the powertrain and do it.

If you are doing the ADC kit at the same time it would save considerable time. (headers, oil & coolant routing, etc)

well i decided not to install the cams,19# inj and the azdc chip in my 2.5L and just save them for my 3L when i do it. I thought about it it would almost be minimal gains compared to the 3L swap and all the work in the swap. i need to buy all the componets for the svt cams into the 3L heads anyways. so why install them twice and for a short time anyways. :shrug: i guess i wanted it now before fest but I am going to make it a point to find a 3L and another mtx-75 tranny build both up and just do the swap
