so yesterday we had a local meet.....went over to Foreign Cars Italia and drooled over the F430's, F612's, F50, and Enzo. they also had a DB7 and DB9, as well as two Carrera GT's.

but we're coming back and i have a friend who wants to do a pull with me. he just got rid of his cat and got his computer back from TurboXs. this is the same stage 3 that i've run a few times before and pulled on him every time.

his mods are: turboback(now catless), uppipe, TurboXs top mount IC(more than twice the size of my stock intercooler), boost controller, stage 3 computer.......or so i though;)

the last time i raced him he had the mods above and a cat. i pulled 4 cars on him everytime.

first 2nd gear pull.....3rd honk, we're off....i immediately notice that his turbo sounded different.....as in, not stock, lol. he was in my blind spot the whole time through 2nd and 3rd. we ran up on a car and decided to get off the exit and turn around. there was no one on the other side.

second pull...2nd gear.....we go with the same result, only this time 4th was an option. unfortunately not one that happened. as i grabbed 4th, with him at my rear quarter, i heard a loud pop. rpm's dropped, lights flashed, i saw white smoke and had a bad taste in my mouth from it. this is where my heart stopped.......pulled over and the car cut off....*s#it*. popped the hood, everything was in order except for that d@mn RFL......thank the Lord, lol. for those who don't know, white smoke is very bad. but in this case it was just a major boost leak. i had 1 screw left in the bov to hold it on, the other two are gone. i totally forgot about the pulls and proceeded to put the bov back on.

now for the suprise!!!

so we get back to my place and as soon as i get out of the car i remember how his car sounded. first thing i said was, "so how do you like your new turbo...." he just looked at me and laughed. his new mod list consists of a VF34(17.5psi), injectors, fuel pump, and TurboXs stage 4 computer. then we had a conversation about the utec because there is no way that i should have been in front of him with what he has now.

so here i am with just a header/uppipe, downpipe, MBC, stock turbo, running 16.5psi.........i'm happy that i did so well but that ladies and gentlemen is the importance of proper tuning.

Can you put lock washers on the screws?

Dump the RFL...it's a crappy BOV, and it's probably not making the car any happier. If you feel the urge to need to hear the "sound" get a quality BOV from a company like forge or Tial... Honestly all BOV's leak to some extent, I've only found that the stocker doesn't leak, and my worx unit seems fine. I leave it on recitculate all the time. The car is soooooooooo much happier on recirculate VS. atmosphere blow off...

it came with the car and doesn't seem to mind it....i don't have any part throttle hesitation. it is rich between shifts of course, but other than that no leaking. i just need to pick up the real screws from TurboXs.....i think those come with some sort of locking nut.
