Has anyone wired interior neon to switch on/off with the 10-second light (IE when you unlock the doors)?
and if so, how difficult (1 to 10) would that be vs. a normal hardwired neon install?

why use a neon? why not use a cold cathode? its easier to wire in, like a 1 on that scale of yours. neons are annoying in my book, and cold cathodes are hella cheap.

I'm open to cold cathode (or LED bar or any other colored light emitting object), doesn't need to be neon. less money and less hassle always is a plus!

If you're mainly wanting to get rid of the factory light, you might try this: (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7964158804&category=33713&sspagename=WDVW)

hmm . . . i think her point is to have the neons go on when she unlocks the doors and have that 10 second feature . . .

exactly! I was thinking of some under-dash or under-seat neon (or whatever format), but don't have any need for it to be "car show" neon, but thought it'd be cool for it to accompany the dome light when you get in/out.

Been there, done that... exact same thing in my car already and I love it. All you do is to pull out the crappy overhead bulb, grab a meter and see which side is positive and which side is negative. After that, run your power wires for ANY kind of lighting ( LED, cold cathode, neon, whatever ) to those 2 points and solder them on. Difficulty rating about 3 outta 10. ( 1 outta 10 if you're proficient with a soldering iron ). I have 4 tubes of cold cathodes in my car. 2 on each side strapped to the top moldings over the 2 doors and side windows and it lights up the interior beautifully! Highly recommended.

Also Caesly, not trying to sound rude, but those LED replacement bulbs are a$$.. the LEDs are never very well matched to eachother and they are not directional and they are not very bright. Not a good lighting replacement in my humble opinion.
