View Full Version : Moving to Seattle
I just got a nice job offer from Boeing in Seattle and I officially accepted earlier this week.
So, I will be moving to Seattle some time this summer after I finish up school.
Any Boeing employees on the boards?
How often do you guys meet?
I'm moving over from Illinois.
I can't wait to have a scenery change.

Welcome to the NW! I'm down in PDX, but lived up in Seattle a couple years ago for a year, and loved it! (with some exceptions: traffic - most from Boeing and MS ;), rent $$$, and car insurance sucks thanks to So. Seattle (tacoma) having one of the highest theft rates in the country. Used "the club" every time I parked - even to run into the grocery store for a couple things... At the time, I think it was 2nd or 3rd in the nation for insurance rates.) You're leaving the cubs hats in Ill, right? ;-) Mariners are great - win or lose. No better place to see a game than Safeco Field. Being from Portland with only a [censored]ty NBA team, seeing how people got into the M's was amazing! Pretty average weather in the NW - no snow, dry summers, wet winters, no hail/thunder storms, the occasional earthquake (their 6.8 earthquake was when I was there), no tornados, hurricanes or other weird things. People are great. There is a huge cultural mix in Seattle - but it all works together and is totally laid back for a pretty good sized city.
EDIT: seeing this after it posted, it sounds a little ADD... must be the coffee ;)

I guess I would be the old man of this chapter at 54, but I still really love cars! I am re- building up my '99 Coug since it;s over 112000 miles. I did work at Boeing and took a medical retirement. Boeing is a good place to start a career experience but NOT a place to stay long term. The benefits are really lacking for a family man, plus they are expensive. Boeing has ben recalling workers for the 787 Dreamliner but have had a 65%+ rejection rate according to Boeing's HR group.

tizzite have a good trip and will hold a chapter meet soon so you can meet some people (and because I'm a lil new I wouldn't mind meeting some people too, hehe) but hopefully it's after I get a few mods done to my car within the next 2 weeks or so! (clear headlights with some silverstar bulbs or maybe HIDs not sure it the benefit is great enough yet! and some halos and a UK 4 button switch (where the traction control is) and get all my lights switched over to red and maybe my interior painted red well I'm at it!) But I might have to wait until summer and I'll have to meet you guys with my stocky again....
