My fuel guage stoped working today right after i raced a mustange. I filled up this morning all the way and then when i got done racing him i looked to see how much gas i had used and i see that the needle is past the Empty. Went to the dealership and no one was there who could take a look at it because of easter in all. does any one know what is wrong????????
I asked the guy that i raced because im friends with him and he said that it is probally the thing that floats in the fuel tank got stuck or something. My battery is diconected right now because im tryin to see if i reset every thing then it will be fixed.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!

The guage level is controlled by a pretty delicate series of connections at the float on the side of your fuel pump housing. Good chance something broke in there, and you're getting no reading.

Try reseting your ECU(disconnect negative terminal for 10 minutes). The same thing happened to me last year. After reseting the ecu, it went back to normal and never came back.
EDIT: Didnt see you had the battery disconnected. Hope it works.

Yea i disconnetced the positive part of the battery and turned on the car and what do your know it still says empty. lol great news for me. then only somewhat good thing is that i told my parents how i broke it and they did not yell at me for street racin.
anyone know how much its going to cost to fix it because when i went to the dealership they said that it was going to probally cost $60 just to "find out what the problem is" and then charge me for labor and parts on top.

is your low fuel light on? i'm assuming it would be, if you don't tighten the gas cap right it will do that to ya... hopefully it's that simple

Yes the light is on but i dont think that would be it because after the race i filled up again and put the cap on again. ill see if there is anything around the cap thats loose or anything. im up to any suggestion because i dont want to pay for this.
