Don't waste your time with an SVT motor. If you're going to do the job, get a friggin' 3.0. Cheaper and more powerful.

Being that a Ford probe motor won't fit..that'd be a negative. Check out the 3L section for more details. They're is an abundant amount of information for you there :)

Only a Duratec 3.0 and 2.5 will fit in the cougar. Like LostRacer said. Check the 3.0 section for a full list of engine swap options. BTW 3.0 engines come stock with 200hp and 200hp at a minimum. Bolt ons and SVT cams such will net much more HP.

The Probe Vulcan 3.0, in addition to being a TURD, will not fit, as mentioned before. You need a Taurus, Sable, or Escape DURATEC 3.0L with OVERHEAD CAMS. None of this pushrod V6 Probe garbage.

3.0L in a Ford Probe????? A Vulcan Engine in a Probe???? Did I miss the 3rd Generation Probes or something?

Probes V-6 came with KLDE 2.5L engines. You can buy a K-series engine with 200hp stock. Its a common Probe / MX-3 / MX-6 Swap. It is commonly referred to as a KLZE and comes in several J-spec cars. They are on ebay all the time, as well as many other importer sites. The "american" version K-series engine is the KLDE which came in a probe GT, Mazda MX-6 and had around 164 hp. It also came in a millenia with 170 hp. There is also a baby "K" which is the K8DE. THis engine came in the Mazda MX-3 and had about 130 HP. It is a 1.8L V-6 and I believe it is one of the smallest V-6 engines in the world. Maybe even the smallest. Of course the MX-3 is a pretty light car.

IIRC Vulcan 3.0 Engines are the earlier Taurus/ Sable Engines, pre-duratec. These did not come in a probe. A probe did not come with a 3.0 . I have never heard of putting a 3.0 in a probe, someone probably has though.

I have seen MANY Probes with Vulcan V6's in the junkyard I go to. Just saw 2 of them last Saturday. Do ya homework...

:bs:

It may look like a Vulcan...
May smell Like a Vulcan....
BUT it is Not a Vulcan...
ANd no way in hell did a stock probe come with a 3.0....

GT's came with KLDE engines.

My friend owned two Probes (current has a 96 GT) and the other one was a 95. The 95 was the SE model with the 2.0 4 banger and the GTs have the 2.5's with again 164 HP! I know there is 2 gens of Probes with the early ones, started in 89 i think, with turbos!

You were right...it seems that the old first gen probes came with a vulcan for two years....

1990 and 1991.
