I currently have my engine torn down, and decided i should clean my UIM. What is the best solvent for this process? Brand? anything would help. I want it done right. And ive heard people say soak it. How many spray cans would that take!?

I used a can of STP throttle body cleaner and a bunch of rags and it cleaned mine real good.

When I did mine, the stuff was baked on seriously thick. I used cans of TB cleaner, and more importantly, I used this technique to make life easy.
I bought a circular BBQ cleaner grill brush (brass wire brush). About the size that would be used to clean test tubes or something. There were two prongs, and I cut each off to make it like a wire brush that I could mount in my drill for cheap. Through that in the drill, and cleaned those ports out ASAP! The softer brass doesn't score up the ports (which wouldn't really matter IMO anyway), but you might not want to do the same with a STEEL brush, as it might damage the surface (again -- I doubt it matters).
For the UIM stuff, I think I left the UIM upside down, and in diff positions, and just got in there with similar brushes as well as I could. Or just max extrude hone it! ;)
