This car of mine is really starting to dip into my pockets. I swear my car is a crack baby.

So, I went to Michigan this week for work and since I was on Spring Break from school, I thought it would be a good idea to take the cougar to the mechanic and have him figure out why my engine light wont go off. (my birthday is less than 3wks and I have to echeck it since I live in Summit Co.) Well from the codes the car was throwing Paul thought that my car had a vaccum leak, (possible since a few months back I had to install a new starter for the 3x and to get to it we had to disconnect a few hoses and such). Before Paul went on to try out the vaccum leak idea, he got to looking at my exhaust to see how to remove it incase it was the O2 sensors. Well he saw that from my manifold to the resistor was red hot and that this was causing my my engine light failure. He quoted me with labor & parts, $1500. :puke:

He said if I can find the parts he will only charge me labor to install. Now my questions to you guys are:

- Anyone have a used manifold/catylic converter off a low mileaged cougar that they are willing to sell?
- Where can I get a manifold/ catylic converter decently priced?
- Any suggestions on how to get around my ordeal?

I know, I know... TRADE IT IN FOR SOMETHING ELSE..
All I can say is , I CANT... I owe 5g's, EPA in Summit Co. wont let me get rid of it unless it passes Echeck...:bs:, and I have nothing for a down payment because I have practically sunk my entire savings into the car: Transmission, Axel and now emissions... not to mention that I am paying for my schooling, still have a car payment and numours bills.

If someone can help I will so totally appricate it.

Sincerly,
Sarah

Get a pair of MIL eliminators from spmotorsports.com and just screw the whole cat converter thing. Gut 'em!

Otherwise, someone was selling a pair of stock manifolds in the classifieds section.

YUp- cheapest thing would be guy the cats and get some MIL eliminators. Hopefully the O2 sensors are still ok cuz they need to be functional. I think the manifolds are basically around what a set of headers costs so if you are gonna drop 1500 anyway...the choice should be clear.

True; I would WAY rather spend $600 on a set of headers and eliminators than $1500 on... WHO KNOWS WHAT!

See if either of these are still available.
