i was going to pick up a friends computer. she needs a format and what not. i come up to a stoplight on a 3 lane road with 1 car in front of me a semi to my right and a line of cars to my left. i noticed a nice MR2 turbo(this is what we call forshadowing). i pass him, an acura, and a suburban. so we're all stopped at the light, windows down, nice sunny day.....light turns green. i take 1st to about 3500rpms and move on to 2nd.
here's where i pause for a sec to tell you that bullitcoug, nemesis, and buffdaddy can testify to how loud the backfire is.
so i shifted casually 2nd and i press the gas.....BOOOOM! remember...there's a semi next to me so the sound was magnified elevendy billion times. ears ringing, vision returns, and people are staring at me. first thought.....dear Lord that was loud. so i get past the semi only to see the MR2 come flying out of nowhere and get next to me. he's on my right but i remember him being on my left so he had to cut across 2 lanes to get past the semi. he's smiling, give me a nod, and points ahead.....i look back with that "sure, why not" look. cars have moved and we have some room to play. crusing at 40 i know 2nd is going to be a nice place to start. i let him get the jump and then i lay into it. ran her through 2nd and to around 5 grand in 3rd with a bus length or so, couldn't tell at that point, lol. but that's all i gave him. he catches up and throws up a thumb. i do the same and he takes an exit a min later.
fun fun....i love those little MR2's. there's a modified red one in town that just rapped me, lol. he has two medium size fart cans that some out at angles and make a "V." it looks so bad@ss.......best part of his exterior. anyways..........

Magic,
I wouldnt recomend going with the Utec if I were you, there are a lot of problems that I have had as well as friends have had. The Utec will only be good for around 19psi, as well as detuning itself over time becuase it is a pigy back computer, the stock computer in your rex is a learning computer and likes to adjust. Also you will get a lot of detonation as well. The Utec doesnt like working with injectors that are larger than the Sti pinks also. There a lot more however I cant think of them all at this point. If you want engine managment I would recomend a stand alone, such as the Hydra Element or the AEM. BTW great kill!!

thanks caelin.....if i do get the utec, it won't be the turboXs utec. the creator of the utec left TXS a while back. one of my friends has known him for a while and now he has a new system out. it has so much more than the original utec and Julian is dying to tune one. it costs more but it's so worth it. it's definalty the real utec.

Hey M,
I was thinking of getting AP from cobb as an EM. They have the streetstuner software out which I have heard is pretty decent to tune with.

it's not bad......i do have a friend with the cobb stage 2.5 and he loves it. a lot of ppl have that setup actually....it's a lot cheaper than TXS but it doesn't do as much. they don't have the knock sensor and if it does knock, the computer backs off the boost and fuel but then doesn't bring it back up to where you had it. so you have to reset it.....the utec will change the boost and fuel if it knocks but when it stops it returns to it's original level.
BTW....where are you hiding the pics of your beast? i haven't seen any:)

locam....where are you getting all this info from?.....i will be using utec when my car gets back together and i intend on running 19 psi on a p/p vf34....
i know of people running 22-24 psi on utec maps....the secret to keeping on top of the tune is the necessary guages....
i had the accessport and sold it for the utec....i HIGHLY recommend it...very easy to use and you will LOVE how it feels...utmost quality...
one day i will upgrade to a standalone..but that won't be until i blow up the ej20

YUP. I can't wait, I need to hear something when I step on the gas.
We have a local guy here in Lincoln in the Racing team I am on running the Utec set up and he runs 12.7 all day long. He'll be going low 12s this year on it with a larger turbo and some internal changes. He loves his Utec and you do have to stay up on the tuning. He spends alot of time with it but he likes it and it has proven worthy.

my setup with the accessport was catless tb, uppipe, header, crank pulley, perrin drop in....and some other small things i can't remember right now....but anyway...i added the header last and the difference i noticed when already on a stage 2 high wastegate map was unbelievable and i didn't lose a damn bit of boost like some people do....
so anyway...good purchase on the header and exhaust...you'll love it...
