I've never really known much about car audio, but i blew out one of my speakers, so I wanna get some decent replacments. I've read on here that component is the way to go, but I'm not sure I really understand it. For example, I was looking at some Polk and Infinity 6x8's today at a car stero place around me. Both designs are 2-way, stating it has a tweeter for highs, and woofer for lows. Are these any good, or is there a better route. I'm going to be repolacing the front doors (which the one is blown), and I'll probably do the rears with the same speakers then. I don't wanna get seperate subs, cause I need the trunk space. I just want something that is decent and can go in the stock locations. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

I would take an alternate route than stock size speakers. Most car stereo Shops can cut templates to use different size speakers in place.

I would have this done and use a component set with 5 1/4 with seperate tweeters and a crossover. thats the way i would do.

I agree components with seperate tweeters and crossovers are the way to go!
I put mu tweeters in the little black piece in the corner of the window, sounds great.

You may be able to find some 6 x8 components i know boston acoustics makes them for sure, and alpine too i think.
