again after having the car for a week with the stock headers - i finally get a call today saying i have to pay 5 hours of labor before the shop will even take off the other headers and put the stock ones

THEY WANT ME TO PAY $350 now!! and thats just for header work - not even fixing the rest of the car....

no humanily way possible to i have that much money right now... not really working - trying to find a new job.

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! take time to help me take off the ss headers and put the stock ones back on PLEASE!!
ill do what ever i can for repayment of your hard work when i can.

never really done headers before. that and i won't even be in town this weekend.

-shrug-

the message is confusing tho. you already have stock headers on? or still the crapon-R ones? do you need it on to get something done? is the car alive and well?

currently the weapon r headers are on the car
i need to take them off - so i can put the stock headers back on

the car is not running - has not since f**king Jan 30th

something might be wrong with the TPS? i dont know i havent looked at it - and even if i did - i still wouldnt know

the car doesnt stay running - car wont even idle 1000rpms - stalls out

im afraid to take it to the dealer - b/c with performance headers being on the car - it will void my warranty. worse comes to worse - once the stock headers are back on - ill have the dealership actually fix the car. I'll play the dumb blonde girl who knows nothing about the exhaust and no cat (ah duh whats that? is that in the trunk) and maybe my warranty will cover fixing the rest of it.

because im taking it to lincoln/mercury to get the body work done from the vandalism claim

he is an ET in the navy - he could probably take apart my cars computer or design a new wiring harness

but mechanically inclined :stupid:

hehe, yeah. i'm just wary about headers. it was a pain enough just getting my ypipe off and install the new one. ugh. that and replacing the o2 sensor on that rear header. it was a royal pain i don't want to relive. so cramped in there.

I don't think you have to worry about the o2 sensor with the '01 and '02's, but I could be wrong.

Sorry, Sam, wish I could help.

looks like ill be spending close to $525 to get this work done.

really not happy about that...:disgust:

even sadder that no one would take 1 day out of their life to help me

MAS wanted to charge me $480 - a little less - but id have to pay another $45 just to get my car towed over there - and whatever else extra after for fixing the car - so im just going to leave it where it is

Jenna I was just up at mas like 20 min. ago and he seems to think that it is something stupid thats making your car not run right. he said that theres no way in hell that putting headers on is going to cause problems, unless something is not hooked right. don't go back to stock huge waste of money and even more important huge waste of hp. you might get it up to mas and some electrical thing might not be plugged in. you never know.

this whole thing as been nothing but HELL for me over the last 2 months.

the shop looked at the car - things were hooked up right - no idea why the car wasnt running right...???

hutch's just fixed the car - yeah i know it SUCKS - but changed things back to stock - took headers off, fixed the exhaust leak i guess the car runs GREAT!! now

the mechanics said they were unable to just fix the problem - that things just needed to get put back.
OTHERWISE KNOWN AS - THEY DIDNT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT PROPERLY???!!!

total charge is $508.93 - the car was fixed on monday the 28th - BUT - its still sitting at their shop becuase i dont have the money to pay for it right now.

so GOOD NEWS - car runs again - BAD NEWS - i cant afford to get my car back at least until Wed....

REGARDLESS once i get my car back i need to drop it off at the dealership so i can get the Vandalism on my car fixed too...

SO no way am i even getting my car back prolly before April 11th...

and the moral of the story is.... stay away from weapon-cRap.

sorry. i'm not heartless, i just try to make light of the situation to hopefully make one feel better. it's probably not working.

Did you use the stock gaskets when you installed the weapon r headers? There shouldn't be any issues with installing those headers on a 2001+ cougar. An exhaust leak means that there was an installation error. Either someone re-used the original gaskets which is a big no-no or some one didn't tighten up the bolts at the manifold or joints on the y-pipe. You could have checked for tightness on each bolt at the manifolds and on the y-pipe and reset the battery and probably saved yourself two-months of pain and $500 without taking the weapon r headers off. I wish I had seen this sooner. Good luck with everything and I'm sorry things didn't work out very well for you with those headers.

hunny - trust me if it was just an issue of tightening up bolts - i think i would have been able to figure that out too myself...

Sam seriously, that's all an exhaust leak is. Did you install it yourself or did you have a shop do it? Don't throw those headers away because there's really nothing wrong with them. I might be able to put them in correctly sometime if you want. I'm not that far away. Just let me know.

well, her boyfriend installed it. i was thinking an exhaust leak but assumed that she would have checked that first.
