thats a ballsy move man! i usually wait until end of april just because mother nature can be a [censored] sometimes ;)
I'm giving it at least a couple more weeks. I just don't want to be stuck in 10cm of snow with a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE011s. They don't work too well in the snow.

Yeah, as much as I don't want to, I'm going to wait it out until mid-April to put mine on. My Kumho's have a 0 rating in snow and ice and I can't take any chances because I need my car for school and work everyday :)

Haha...
Yeah, well... dunno. Here's the Nitto:

Believe it or not, there's an M + S on the side! ;) I guess living in downtown Toronto, it's very rare you see much street coverage (with snow). It's a little early perhaps, but time. I am shredding these snow tires... In the fall, I used my summer's well into December in sub-zero temps, and testing them out in open road conditions, they still stuck amazingly well...

While you guys are waiting for your rubber to go back on, I'll be happy just to get my cougar back. Its been off the road since October, and I'm sick of driving automatic cars :) In October my tranny got stuck in 2nd gear, so I parked it for the winter and got the ball rolling on my 3L plans. Hopefully in less than two weeks, the new and improved 3L cougar will be whipping around the GTA. I have a pretty much brand new set of winter tires too, but it looks like those will have to wait for next season thanks to the nice weather we're experiencing lately. I'm going to be putting on my 18's when the car is ready. The suspense is making me sick, but I'm hoping all the money poured into this project will pay off. For those of you that are curious, my setup will be as follows:
Full 3L 04 Escape Motor
Oval port Heads P&Ped and matched to split port intakes
24lb injectors
SVT CAMS/UIM/LIM/TB
MSDS Headers & Y-pipe/Borla Catback/GMK CAI
Updated Tranny with a Torsen
Spec Stage 1 Clutch/Flywheel
ADC Custom Tuned Chip
I'm hoping this setup will make my car move as fast as it looks :)

Sounds great, Infamous! Hopefully this will decisively settle the hybrid vs. full 3L debate, as our setups are very comparable. And after I beat you, we'll see if Evan's high-compression, super-tweaked setup can win the finals!   :poke: :cover:

lol, yes it should definately settle the debate, but your going to have to wait for me to break in this motor before I motivate you to swap in 3L Oval Port Heads :) As for Evan, he's definately going all out, but "I AINT NEVER SCARED", should be very interesting though, the driver will make all the difference and that 7500 redline will be nice too :)

Sounds like a nice setup and definite fun come this spring. I just hope the Spec stage 1 holds up for you.

The stage 1 should be alright, there rated to handle 280lb/tq. It seems to be the clutch of choice for 3L's which will be staying N/A.

Staying N/A for now you mean ;)
I'm sure you'll want more power come next year. Then you'll be buying a nitrous/SC/Turbo.

:) I hope not.... seriously though I think I'm done for modifications on my cougar. If I'm still not happy than I'm gonna have to start fresh on a new car. But you are correct, speed and power are things you can never be satisfied with, you always seem to want more.

IMHO, more power on these cars are pointless. That's why I'm just building my motor for NA and NA only. I want something that is reliable and can take the abuse of a number of open track days a season. From my experince, more power than that is useless unless you have a big track to run like Mosport. Once my motor is done I'm saving for a house and something new that will be a weekend only toy.

True most of the time, but if your a 1/4 mile junkie like me then more power is a must.

how much did they run you? I'm finally going to replace my POS kumhos this spring, and I'm still weighing my options (of which price is a big one!) ;)

Ajay - retail was $225 a tire for 225/40/18's.
I got mine (4) for $825 tax in, with valves, balanced, etc. They have a cool little rim protector on them :)

These are made my Bridgestone (which also makes Dayton). Rasta... maybe you should check out some Falken Azeni's? Good price, nice tire. Also, I have been extremely happy with these NeoGens... In any case, consider hooking up with your buddy Iceotron down in NY, mounting your tires there (I bought for peanuts at discounttiredirect.com) and driving back home. Saves a big chunk of change on stupid Canadian taxes and such. Oh yeah! Since the exchange rate has become more favorable, it's even more of a steal!

basically i'm looking for something with a stronger sidewall than my kumhos...handling isn't necessarily my highest priority (when you go through 2 tires every season, you can't afford to care as much  )...i'll check with carl about prices, but even with the exchange rate and savings on taxes, i'm sure increased gas prices would nullify the savings :(

the places around here charge anywhere from $7 a tire to mount and balance (walmart) up to $13.50 a tire (Dunn tire).
If you can find yourself a deal i'm all up for helping you out. Hell, could do it the day before can-am if ya wanted and stay at my place.

Ajay....if you end up buying from the US, I strongly suggest picking up the Nitto 555 Extreme NT's. I have had them on my car and they took a beating.
On the flip side, discount tire has the Fuzion's for $107 a piece on special right now. But at that price you are getting close to what I paid when it's all said and done. You might save yourself a hundred bucks. I can talk to Kevin and see what kind of deals I can get you. He gives me 15% off, so you basically avoid the tax :)

i also just realized, the problem is one tire is completely shot, so i actually need to take the wheels to the shop...which makes crossing the border difficult....

I'll talk to Kevin about prices on Friday then. I'll price out a couple of options for you and get back to you.
