Hi,

As I posted in the Newbie area, I'm new to these forums, but wanted to say hi. I am in Battle Creek; a bit west of your general area.

Welcome! You just missed our meet Saturday. You will just have to come to the next one.

Thanks Jeremy, yeah, I read that you all would be having a meet on the 19th. I was a bit lazy in posting here - I should have posted all I did in the Newbie area...so here it is:

Hello all.

My name is George and I've been lurking around here for about 2 weeks now. I just bought (last week) a 2000 Rio Red 2.5L MTX Cougar. This is my first Cougar, but I am a life-long Ford nut, currently owning 2 classic Mustangs and 2 generation 2 SHOs, none running except for one SHO.

I am probably outside of the "normal" demographic of this forum - being 43 yrs old. I am also Separated, 2 kids (one a senior in high school) been working for the same general employer for 23 years and a resident of Battle Creek, Michigan (but born and raised a Buckeye).

I am no stranger to Forums, so I know how to behave and have no interest in flame wars. I currently operate 4 websites as a "hobby" and have had other interests over time besides cars that these websites reflect (my nickname here is from my gaming world). In fact, I have been away from the "excitement" of cars for nearly 18 years - this car may re-ignite that interest. I already want to do several modifications - but as many of you already know, family obligations will put a big crimp on available money.

So, long story short...hello and thanks for the welcomes that are sure to come. I have already found these forums to be a wealth of information - although there is always room for improvement ;)

here is a pic of my car:

Welcome to the group, I believe the MC-NECO branch is probably the most knowledgable rounded group of any of them so you're in the right place. We have local specialists for engine performance, cosmetics, electrical/electronic and anything else you can imagine all locally.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm also a little older than the pack too. I am 30, but that's still about 10 years on alot of the folks around here.

Hey, I just turned 30 this month, myself... :P So there are a few of us getting up there, and I also have two kids (9 and 10 yrs old, both girls). Welcome aboard man, you'll definately have to stop out to one of our meets, they're good times... =)

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone.

Yeah, I am interested in doing some mods...just light ones - and as money allows. Here are some long range ideas I have right at the moment:

Eclipse billet fuel door
Used 18s w/tires (would have to be ridiculously cheap)
Possibly lowering the car (springs vs coilovers?)
Laptop install in glove box for GPS and DVD and MP3s
A Pillar Pod - maybe even molded in
I like some of the skirts/bumpers/wings - but all require paintjobs - so that is really long term (unless already rio red) - I prefer the subtle body mods, not the all-out ones.
I love those black/red XR seats the guy in Toledo has - but thats long term
Possible dash mods/painting
Possible console mods (lower and upper)
Window Tint - what's the Michigan limit on tint?

Those are pretty much ideas floating in my head right now - although the fuel door is likey to be the first. And I have a laptop. ;)

michigan limit on tint... back and back sides can be no more than 5% AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS ILLEGAL.... you arent allowed to have any on your passenger windwos except 4 inches from the top and the same on the windshield! but as you will see everyone who has tint, tints the passenger windows anyway.
