I've had the sub setup for a couple months now. 90% sure its a power issue and not an amp issue. Here's the deal. Sub works fine for a while then cuts out. The amp is getting the signal to turnon... its just not getting power. If you take out the inline fuse then put it back in the system will work for a while then cut out. I replaced the fuse and it worked for like 1/2 a week then cut out again. Basically its an 8 guauge rockford fosgate wire/fuse. Ever hear of anyone having problems with the Fosgate inline fuse assembly? Any ideas before I get a new fuse assembly from cardomain. Thanks!

Dave

It might be that you might need a big fuse or it just your amp????
You might have an amp that is not enough power for the sub
causing it to get hot and cut in and out

Couple questions:

What kind of amp is it and the wattage?
What kind of subs are you trying to power?

It may just be overheating and cutting out because my old amp used to do that.

300w American Legacy amp and its running a single Fosgate 12. Both are a couple years old. Oh Ported bandpass box but that shouldn't affect much. Setup has been used for a while in a differnt car. When it cuts out the amp is cool. Next time its try I'm gonna make sure the ground is actually grounded. The reason I'm questioning the fuse assembly itself, while testing with my voltmeter at the amp, its getting the singal fine its just not getting power. more after work

make sure the amp is grounded...pull back some of the carpet, take a dremel with a wheel and clear an area so its pure metal. drill a hole, put a screw / nut combo on it, and make sure you have a good clamp on the ground wire. also, those american legacy amps are not that great...they have high max power ratings but ext. low rms. id try to find a pioneer 760watt amp...im assuming that 12" isnt anything more than a punch z or punch he. rockford stuff is usually really dependable...id check the connection to the battery, and if all fails, just go to wally world and pick up a new inline fuse.
