View Full Version : Local Painters...

Ok, its that time finally... All of my new body parts are in, and I'm ready to tear the car down and get it painted, problem is, all my painters live in TX!!!

So, does anyone know of a good painter in the area that can handle a few complex tricks? I've got two people in mind that are local, in Jackson. One is an old family friend that does hotrod restorations, but he's not to keen on working with the CF cloth. The other company also does custom hotrods, but they've done some wild bodywork, as well, and can handle the CF work I need.

The paint scheme itself isn't that difficult, but they need to be ready to work with the most expensive tri-coat paints on the market, and not be afraid. (Of course, if they screw up my paint and I have to buy more, I'll be pissed, this crap is expensive!)

So, who'd ya'll use, and how did you feel about their work? I'm used to being involved from start to finish, and in the booth for most steps, so I need a painter who'd be willing to let the customer into the layout and prep processes. Anyone have any good ideas? Also, plz put the zip code of any painters you post, so that I can map out distance and see if that will cause issues. Thanks all!

I kept the Blitz front, since I liked the overall look of that, but I went with Terminator sides, and V-Style rear (I think that's the name). I also have univsersal fender flares that will be molded on with the kit, and 10 yards of CF cloth and materials to cover different parts. =) I also have a new CF hood and wing (oh, and I have a CF Pred hood for sale that I'm not going to use, too.)

Since the engine is taking awhile, (I had money problems for about 3 months, which screwed me), I am going to go ahead and get everything else done now, and ready to drop the engine/tranny in. This includes bodywork and paint, all interior (gauges, accents, LED changes, CF covering, seats, headliner, etc), and my suspension/brake finishes (ATI subframe, Aussie rear sway bar, GC/Koni's, bushings all around, solid motor/tranny mounts, solid roll-resistors, Wilwood big brake setup, and new 19" wheels). (I have a set of 20"s in our bolt pattern for sale, as well, but you'll need to cut part of the inner wheel well, which I didn't want to do, therefore I'm back to 19"s.)

Wow! Sounds like a boat load of cash and work on your hands! Best of luck. BTW, good choice on the Terminator sides. I'm also personally counting my coins towards the full Terminator kit and CC ver 2 fender flares.

Bunches of work, yes, cash, no. ;)

I think that the terminator kit is sweet, one of my more favorite kits that has came out recently. It'll look great on yer car, Ron.

Anyway, I found two local shops that can handle the work I need done, one is doing just my CF work, while the other will do everything else including paint. Its a pain, but at least this way I end up with the best of both worlds. One shop is known for its CF bodywork, while the other is known in the hotrod scene as a great painter. (Worst thing is the shop is down a DIRT ROAD thats full of HUGE potholes, ugh...)

I'm open on price for the hood man. Its still in the box it was shipped in, and it hasn't seen a lick of winter. =) Lemme know Dan, I'm not pressed to sell it right now, which is why its not posted on the For Sale section yet. I'll definately let you have first dibs tho, dude...
