I am looking at a 2.5L 02 engine for my blown 2.5L 99 and was wondering if it would fit without any modifications. I was also wondering if there would be anything better about the engine (besides it not being so old) from the 02. Thanks :)

99 engine was return style.....02 is returnless.........thats the main difference i know of so you might have to swap some fuel components over

Early 99s had the return-type fuel system. Most 99s and all 00-02s used the returnless system.

As stated, the engine should swap just fine, but you may need to swap some of you fuel system parts onto the new engine. If there are other differences that would affect a swap, I'm not aware of them.

Should be an easy swap, but like stated above, hold onto your return-type fuel system for dear life

Has anybody done this and do you know what fuel components i would need to purchase? I would much rather keep my 99 engine, but since it is blown and has bent rods I thought it would be a better investment to spend on an 02 engine with only 3,000 miles on it for pretty cheap, I'm probably going to have to switch them.

72,000 miles and still running on the stock fuel pump in my early '99!

i had over 105k miles on my 99 engine and i never once had to replace the fuel pump, but now i need to replace my engine and need to know what fuel components i would need to purchase to make this work on an 02 engine. thanks

You wont have to touch the injectors, your existing ones will bolt on just like the old ones.

Just swap the fuel rail and injectors from your 99 motor over to your 02 and everything should be fine. As for other Components, You have to take off the UIM to change the fuel rail so you might need new gaskets, but since it only has 3000 miles they might still be okay. You might as well change your old Fuel pressure Regulator since you have it off. Other than that its an easy swap.
