My setup(from battery back)= 4 gauge wire(80amp fuse)-capaciter(cap grounded)-4g wire from cap to amp-(amp grounded)-amp to 3 12" visonik subs.
when my system is on, my battery light will turn on, when i hit the gas it turns off.
when the battery light is on my cap reads 15.00 flat.....when the light is off it varies from 13.00-14.00 but it keeps fluctuating.
now the other day i removed my fuse so no more power to my system. since fuse was removed, no battery light, no problems.
do i have something connected wrong....is it my alternator (if so, why no light without system)
also
if it is my alternator, what are you people with powerfull systems using to not have battery light problems?
thanx guys

ur cap and amp should be grounded seperately..... not together

sounds like your alt is on its way out..the extra load your system is drawing..probably 30 amps is cuasing you light to come on and is stressing out your system....what kinda amp and how big is it?what class is it and what load do you have on it? 3 subs are a bad combination for most amps..depending on the subs of course are they dvc or svc? and what ohms are the coils?
take your car to battery shop and ask them to test it with and without the system on...most places the test is free..they are around here anyway...
also check to make sure your grounds are as short as possible clean bare metal and very tight...check for corrosion on your battery cables too..
and there is no problem sharing ground points with those components...my amp is grounded to my cap then to my car and i have no problems...ie only one ground wire attached to my car..
try by passing your cap and see how the system runs..

Definitely not!!!!
Always have a central ground point, and if possible, run a wire from your head unit ground to the ground in the rear... any distance between grounding points can result in a ground loop... that is basically a diference in potential energy, which more often that not results in noise!!!

I have a total of 3500 watts RMS running in my cougar... I upgraded the battery to an optima yellow-top, upgraded the alternator to a 150Amp and added a yellow-top optima battery in the rear.
To check your alternator, start your car and then disconnect the battery. If your car stays running then your charging system is fine and you should get your battery load-tested..
Good luck
