I have seen that one before. I absolutely LOVE the fender flares and rear bumper on it. I don't like the hood or kaminari wing though. Other than that, that thing is great!

i dont see anything rice about it besides the "gawdy" rear. the paint sceme has been over done by a lot of people, but its a nice original clean looking car. i dont see any queer fake sponsor sticker or anything on it, or any other typical ricer paraphenelia.

Not tasteful at all.... just too much going on... gross
Than again, i don't really like most bodykits for the coug anyhow.

I like the color but that's about it. The front end, side mirrors, and tail lights are awful!

Uh I think if you remove the altezzass, and do something a little different with that hood, it is total hotness!!:cover:
Yes that paint job could be considered "overplayed" but I am not complaining about that paint job, because it is one of the nicer chamelion paint jobs I've seen.
As for those wheels> NOW THATS DEEP DISH!!!!

I looked at it and decided that I really liked the blue paint of the color scheme. Then I looked closer and realized I liked the blue paint so much because it's very close to French Blue!
To each his own. I def appreciate the color scheme, but not so much on the body kit.

I do like those wheels!! They are nice, but I think the thing that hits me the most is the nasty custom hood! That thing is NASTY!!:puke::puke:

ive seen a pic of that from the front before, but never those other angles. but like everyone else, the flares look good, but the rest is aweful. did anyone notice the chrome side mirrors????? they wouldnt look bad if they were painted te same as the rest of the car.

02-02-2005, 07:02 PM
The car has been redone I think. It's now a nice creamsicle orange color with the headlight plastic removed & the insides out in the open (like that Focus kit). The bodywork I think was tweaked a little, no more beak nose and a different front end.
I think it's the same car at least. It may not look nice, but it's a lot of work to do what they did.

but yes, still ugly on a cougar.

ewww, i think that has to be one of the more disgusting cougars ive ever seen. First off the hood and headlight cover combo is over done and ugly. The Side mirrors just look plain weird. The Rear end is too wide and the lights/spoiler/super extended hatch to be flush with the rear bumper doesnt look right. I also would like to add that the rear fender flares dont flow at all with the more sharped lined rear of the cougar. I wish i had another had to give that car 3 Thumbs down. I would not drive it, unless it was off a cliff. Way to R1c3r for me.
JScullin, the Cougar that you say is other.
This Cougar is from Menorca (Spain).
The owner that make the mods sell the car last year.
The orange Cougar that you say is Maxituning TOP20 referenced in the most important European tuning magazines.
Itīs from Madrid (Spain too)

Thanks for clarifying. I probably got them confused since they were both from Spain.

I would never use the word "rice" to describe that. I don't like it, but it's just gaudy, not ricey. Everybody needs to just CHILL with the "rice" calling; it's losing its meaning.

02-02-2005, 08:45 PM
yeah it really is.
The tails and wing are rice, the rest is just ugly. I understand they are Lexus lights, but they arent on a Lexus so that makes them ricey to me. I do like the wheels though.

i don't like it
The part I don't get is where the line is drawn. I would say that Cougar isn't any more gaudy than more than half of the Cougars on this messagee board.
Sure it's ugly and overdone....but soare most of everyone elses.
I donīt like this Cougar looking.
In Spain this type of body works is denominated "Barroco", for the charged lines that remember the barroco art style.
I think that look heavy and slow.

Well guys/ girls,
This is what's spanish tuning is all about.
I know, you either hate it, or love it.
But you've got to respect them for all the work.
Check out this coverage of a spanish meeting (http://www.passiontuning.ch/maxi20041.htm), you'll probably won't recognize many cars but just look at the work...amazing!
They could have done a way better job on the Cougar though....

Maybe I was meant to live in europe?
 I love the style of spannish tuning. It is so fresh and original, and the quality of the custom work is out of this world. I especially love all of the deep dish wheels. Good Lord, I want a set of really deep dish really badly.
As for your cougar tuning maniac, I haven't gotten a chance to tell you, but congrats on finishing it. It looks very hot!

I love the fenders on the VW bug...
Thats where the American car scene is going eventually. Those cars look pretty much like all the rice here except everything on them is a little bigger and a little more developed.

I really like it. I think it looks really well done. I would repaint only because I hate the chameleon "brown" in certain lights, and paint the mirrors the same color as the body, but that's crazy work done to it. It's different, but I still really like the widebody kami kit on it.

i personally like the car.
the originality, although gawdy and somewhat mismatched is very unique and lots of work went into the front, the fenders and the rear. the little details were overlooked like the antennae and the fitment of the rear lights. they could have been brought out more to meet flush with the hatch and a filler plate to cover the gap. other than that its a very nice car. i'd love to see it in person.
why do all of you have to hate on craftsmanship and originality. damn i don't think i'll ever post pics of anything new that i've done to my car for fear of you guys bashing me for being original.

eh, some people just like to hate on things they can never get done. I like a lot of things about the car. The hood doesn't quite fit the cuts and openings of the kit or lower bumper or whatever, and the chrome mirrors are a bit out of place, but shoot, that's a CRAZY amount of custom work. I think the word "rice" has been overly used and just does not fit in this situation. Rice is when a person takes their beater or stock car, throws on a short ram intake, some stickers, and a big exhaust tip and calls it a day. Gaudy things like anodized wiper blades, seat belt covers, walmart auto accessories, steering wheel covers or "Type-?whatever letter of choice?" items are also in that category. But, someone who spends thousands of $$$'s (or Lira or Euros or whatever in his case) or spends hundreds of hours doing the work himself is one step above anyone here who throws on a drift kit and calls it a day. Maybe his car has a few street racer stereotypes, but damn, that car is insane. Too bad to hear he went the same route as many of the other overly done cougars and painted it orange, but I know my car would never be up to that level. I understand the whole thing about individual tastes, but some credit has to be given to that guy for the work done regardless of whether it's your style or not.
For me its not hating on it because im jealous or hating it because i cant afford to get it done because i could easily afford to go over the top on my car. I just prefer a more clean stock lowered with rims kind of look. Big over the top body kits and things like that have never really done it for me so chances are i wont like many cars with an insane amount of exterior modifications.
