pyle . . . the name speaks for itself . . . i used a belking and it wasnt half bad; i put it right back where the fm reciever plugs into the back of the deck . . . and the fm modulator, do you need one? it is not the same thing as the transmitter . . .

Well say you are using an I-pod or whatever, you honestly should wire it into the back of the radio. Best quality hands down.

How would you wire it to the head unit on a stereo that does not have aux inputs? Everything is output or power for the head unit then, on the stock head unit. After market head unit yes, factory no.

Greg, try and get a fm modulator, it lets you pick the frequecy that it uses. Maybe it is set to something that is getting lots of interference from around you, change to a different channel and see if that cleans up the static for yea.

Some FM modulators/transmitters, have a plug style adapter that goes in line with the antenna wire.

yeah like I was saying, use a FM modulator to wire it into the back of the radio. Thats what a FM modulator does, you plug it into the antennae leads, then wire up switch, constant, and ground into the factory wires. Not a hard concept

FM modulators and transmitters are ok if you're not concerned about quality of sound - if you are, however, get an in line aux input adaptor. you can 2 and three input units, for about $60. Try Soundlinx (UK)Soundgate (US) for starters. the Ford model fits the standard cougar unit, even with the multichanger in the boot (Trunk). I have one fitted with a hard drive MP3 player The MPlayer, known as Neo over there in the states.
