I have been looking for information on getting an engine swap. I am Have a 1999 cougar 4 cyl 5 speed, I dont know a thing about this. I dont have the money to get the swap yet and dont even know where to start. Can someone steer me in the right direction. Should i start upgrading other parts, should I wait and start with the engine, is this something a shop will do or do i need to install it on my own time, is it even possible. I know very little so any help will be great.

So i take it going from a 4cyl to 6 is not a cake walk, ok. Does anyone have an etimate on how much it would cost to go from a stock 4cyl to 6cyl.........or is it better off just work with what i have now?

In your case you would be MUCH better off going turbo route.
In your situation, you would need a different subframe and tranny, among other things.
You have an engine that is fairly well backed by the aftermarket community, so your best bet would be to mod what you have.

It would cost a complete donor V6 MTX car plus a 3L engine.
If you can't do all the labor yourself add many more thousands of dollars.

Ok I think I will stick with what I have now and just add to it. Thanks for the advice.
