I just thought of something... how much would it cost if i could find another used.. stock hood and just have a dealership paint it?
*edit
on car-parts.com they have 100-225$ hoods in texas.. im sure shipping would be just as much as the damn hood. the 225 hoods are the closest to me.

And just for your info, a stock hood will fit in the back of a Cougar. We proved that at CF '02. If I remember correctly, it had to be upside down and angled.

Excuse my photoshoping skills, but has anybody done this?

When i first bought my car, i wanted to do stripes around the "V" in the hood and run racing stripes back off of that. Never got around to it though. And now i am tired of my car, so it wont happen on mine. Seve, paint the hood like that, roof, and the trunk that color. It will be original and look sweet as hell.

Yikes, I would never do it. Just wanted to know if it was done.
But you should definitely get the hood painted like you have the chop. Never seen that style on that color.

When i painted my C/F hood i attempted to tape it like that first Jimmy. It is a [censored] to do as the lines are not really well defined. I think it would look ok if you could get the lines straight and even.

I think you should leave your hood how it is or make it all one color. You should get some rims before you do something with your hood.

would u just paint the center black? or get a CF hood and paint the sides? PLEASE dont go the ricer route and instead get a CF one.

if you want to make your hood look better, just get a visteon hood scoop...it would look much better...that angled paint job doesn't do anything for me, and would probably cost you the same as buying and painting just the scoop...

rice route? it looks damn good. im not trying to pretend like its carbon fiber.. and do you have around 1000 dollars just to get me a carbon fiber hood and get it painted? just for cosmetics... noooo... i'd rather spend 100-200 on painting it like that and me being happy with it even if it is considered "RICE"

Nothing against the Visteon, but I'd consider anything that just sticks to the car to be rice-ier than actual paint.

You would drill holes in your carbon fiber hood to install a visteon scoop?
Your brave! Hope you like it cause you won't be able to turn back ;)

the only reason i said it would be rice, is because i see a whole bunch of CRX's and hondas driving around with hoods they either got from the junkyard that were black, or they spraypainted it black, or they got it professoinally painted black to make it "look" like its CF. and that to me is rice. wheather you think it looks good or not, to me it is considered rice because you are trying to make it look like the hood was CF, then you painted the sides. it may not be rice to you, but to me, it is.
on another note, it will cost more than $200 to have them paint your hood like this. people pay over $100 to have tail light covers painted. and those covers are ready for primer and paint. your hood will need to be sanded down in the middle, then primered, then painted. and its a bigger area. i would think, now again, this is my opinion (ive never had it done so i wouldnt know for sure), that it would cost around $350 atleast.

it would only cost me 100 bucks to get my hood like that if i wanted but i have a CF hood so it doesnt matter..

I'm going to have to agree with this one. But then again I say you should do some more mods before thinking about doing something different with your hood.

I think I paid 150 to get the sides on my carbon fiber painted, and the whole thing re-cleared.

Lol...it's cool JAM...I live in the sticks, and though my bodyshop is very good, I do so much business with them they give me very good prices...in a bigger area it could very well cost much more to have the same thing painted.
A lot of people are telling him to get wheels first. Wheels are gonna cost him 600 or up, depending on the deal he finds. He wants to do something to make his car different, and he doesn't have a lot of money. If it would only cost him 100 to 200 dollars to get the center of the hood painted, he's accomplished his goal and not spent 600 dollars that he doesn't have. I agree that he needs wheels as well (so do I for that matter), but I don't this is as bad as putting on a bodykit with stock wheels, which NO ONE should do.
I don't think he should paint it and try and pass it off as carbon. I don't think that was his intention. My hood is the 700 dollar Kaminari cf, and 99% of the people that see it think just I painted the center black anyway :banghead:
About a year ago, someone brought their Neon into the bodyshop I deal with to have 'their hood painted dark grey to look like carbon fiber'. Now that's just wrong. I don't think that was Seven's intention. He asked me to make the center black, not carbon fiber, or grey.

That would be awesome! If you painted your headlamps as well, I would bow down to you.

I would not paint a stock car with that hood design
as a matter of fact, I wouldn't paint it like that at all unless it somehow tied into the theme of the rest of the car...just some random painted design on the hood only doesn't look good to me.
