Hey all  ,
Been awhile since I've posted anything of substance, so here's a few pics to make up for lost time. First three of Laser Red are from the last day she wore her Summer shoes, sometime in late November. All shiny from Meguiar's Tech Wax and photographed in the front yard of my boyhood home down in Logan. :) I thought I had some of her after switching to winter wheels (which I did Thanksgiving Day morning) but alas I do not. :(

The next three are of my bestest Christmas present. It's a 12-sided folding side table that my Uncle Bob made for me. He also made one for my sister, my mother (his sister), and my cousin (his daughter). He is quite the talented wood worker. Everything you see is hand made. My aunt did the finish. It's twelve sided, folds so you can slide it against the wall to make more available space, and the top removes from the post base for transportation. If you can identify the type of wood (in the case of multiple correct identifications, the first one!), I'll buy you the beverage of your choice at the next meet where beverages are available :)

It may not be an air compressor, but it is an heirloom :)

custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif Wow! How'd you get everything to stay on the walls like that?
Heh, just kidding man. That's a pretty cool looking table. I'm going to guess and say the wood is ash...but i'm probably wrong...
Laser Red is all shinny! And her shoes are gorgeous! Dk is jealous.
That table is also gorgeous! I'd say Oak but im probably wrong, so my second choice would be poplar?
My grandfather made one of these for my mother, cousin jenne, Aunt Beate (his other sons new wife) and me for Christmas.

I was going to just edit Jeff's post, but I have a guess to - my Guess is Cherry - unstained, looks like my quilt rack, which is unstained and darkens up over time.
Can I put in an order for one ;)
Also, dad's first ever wood working project is this huge 2 piece entertainment center for their family room, and it ain't no plain jane.

LMAO!
Sarah, your bread box does look like a mini desk! That looks cool.
Mark the car looks awesome as always. I'm going to guees. Is your table red birch or butternut? My dad's a wood man too. He did the entire kitchen in our old house, our kitchen table, and anything else one could want.

ding ding ding! We have a winner. Congrats Brian. It is ash. I'm surprised it was the first guess. Even though now I know what to look for, I'd still say oak if I was just looking at those pictures.
That table is also gorgeous!
Thank you. It's a nice piece of work. The bread box is really nice too. It does look like a mini-desk, and that would have been my guess (it's got a pencil drawer!) - especially since it's hard to tell how big it is in the pic.
Don't give in to the pressure Mark I don't have Tail Light covers either.
:) No worries Mike. The only way she'll ever wear tail light covers is if they're custom cut to not hide the cool triangular reflections on the inner corners that I love so much, or the little triangular side lights. And then how much would really be covered?
what kind of wax did u use ... i've only waxed once and personally couldn't tell the difference.
What you see in the pic is a fresh coat of Meguiar's Tech Wax over three coats of Zymol's blue cleaner wax. The Tech wax was put on the day before the pics were taken, and the three Zymol's coats spaced over the previous four weeks.
During the summer I use frequent coats of Meguiar's Gold Class wax. And once each spring she gets the three step process of Meguiar's Scratch-X, one or two coats of Deep Crystal Polish, and then a coat or two of Gold Class. (Well, early summer actually, right before CF :) ) Zymol is my winter wax because it doesn't shine quite as deeply as the Gold Class, but it lasts a lot longer and I want protection from the salt during the cold times I can't wax.
I also use Meguiar's Trim Detailer for the black plastic trim on the exterior, Hot Rims for the wheels, Tire Gel for the tires, Stoner's Invisible Glass for the windows, and Armor-All Interior Formula for the inside vinyl & plastic.
The key is to use a paint cleaner like Scratch-X, or even a clay bar, and then get a good coat of quality wax. Preferably more than one coat a year. A coat of polish under the wax deepens the shine. Once won't do it dude, you gotta put some elbow grease into it :)
