Couple of things worrying me lately about my drivetrain. Something is NOT smooth. I'll be replacing the right-side driveshaft momentarily.

Some questions:
-What are the signs of an impending MTX tranny rebuild?
-What are the signs of an incorrectly installed TORSEN LSD?
-What all is done/replaced in a rebuild?

Thanks,

Massiv.

before mine blew a hole, a few tapping noises barely audible. And right when it went, thump thump, BAM!!!! and felt like I ran over something.

Hmmm.... :( That is starting to sound like what I heard yesterday. But I fear that it might be something more insidious... Went away after the car was fully warmed up. But... I think it might've been engine, and not tranny. Too early to tell, we'll see if it comes back. First time I heard it, I stopped, and actuated the throttle from under the hood, tranny in neutral. The engine was smooth, and I couldn't detect the vibration/sound.

Yesterday, something popped or clunked and went BAM when I revved it, in gear, rolling, clutch depressed, in the car... that's what's makes me fear it is engine. But still driving like a champ... Have to wait and see I guess... crossing my fingers. Not sure if it was just an intake pop for unknown reason, and the cyclical vibe I'm hearing/feeling is my bad CV.

IF I HAD A FREAKIN' GARAGE, OR SOME OUTDOOR LIGHTING, OR IT STOPPED RAINING FOR ONCE, I MIGHT BE ABLE TO CHECK IT OUT! God I hate this city-living-but-love-getting-dirty-under-the-hood lifestyle sometimes!!
