It's $125 plus tax from the ford dealer to do a tranny flush, plus they said they add some type of additive to help lubricate or what not, but it's the dealer so i'm expecting them to bull [censored] me. Does anyone have any recommendations of a good place to get your transmission flushed w/ maybe a cheaper price but still the same quality, i don't want them using bulk transmission fluid and i want a tranny flush. Thanks guys.

$125 is very expensive. I've seen it in my area for $75. Shop around.

The dealer said the 75 dollars is using bulk tranny fluid though which I DO NOT want. I'll never put bulk anything into my car. I may just end up changing it myself, it'll be much cheaper. Plus i've been hearing all kinds of things from it's good to do a flush the first time, to it doesn't hurt but it doesn't help, to it'll start slipping and leaking. So i dunno. May just do the reg. ol' drain and fill. Seems to be the safest most cost effective way.

what's wrong with bulk? everything comes in bulk at some point. It just get's put into quart bottles at some point.
All bulk means is that it comes in 55 gal drums. It's cheaper to buy it that way. besides if you get a power flush they are not going to stop the machine to hook up a new quart bottle 12 times.
If you want a flush and want a specific brand of fluid do it yourself. Most places use a brand name fluid. Just ask what brand they use. My dealer uses Penzoil products.

hmmmmmmmmmm.... you seem to be confused. bulk is recycled old fluid, not bulk as in buying in mass for a cheaper sale.

Sorry, you are the one that is seriously confused. Bulk does not mean recycled fluid, it means ordered in bulk (55 Gallon Drums). This job can be done EASILY in your driveway for about $30 (fluid, funnel & bucket).

Pull the plug and drain, plug'er up and add 3 qts. ATF. Drive her around for about a week or so and repeat. After another week do it again. By this time you will have replaced most of the old fluid and escaped the buga-boo's of a flush.

thats one of the dumbest things i've ever heard... over the course of the week the old fluid will have mixed with the new and you would have slightly less dirty fluid... our cars hold 10.2qts of fluid... youre lucky if you get a 1/3 of it by draining at the pan... realistically, you would have to do your method many many times bofore you get the cleanest fluid in.
go to a garage and get it done right... or use the two bucket method and bootleg it the right way
tyger, regular fluid changes are the best thing you can do for your car... its when you go 70 or 80k and the fluid turns to sludge you are going to think flushes arent good... what happens is that the transmission becomes dependant on the thicker fluid, wearing in the wrong places, etc... so when good fluid is added, whoops, you need a new tranny....
ATF is good for about 25-30k.... so keep up on it. you'll notice good fluid and bad fluid smell different... do go solely on color, dark red fluid is spent, nevermind black.

I work at the dealership. The tranny flush machine is awesome, the only machine I beleive in. Bulk means it comes in a 55 gallon drum, cheaper because they do not have to pay for quart packages. The flush addative and Shudder gaurd are kinda expesive but.... with Ford's track record of running [censored]ty cheap frictions that gum up the torque convertor, the shudder gaurd helps prevent friction build up in torque convertor causing a shudder in overdrive, common problem with Grand Marquis/ Town Car and BIG problem in Mark 8. We use the Wynns flush machine, better than BG worth its weight in Gold

Where do you guys recommend going than rather than a dealership for a flush, or otherwise, where do YOU take your car?

When I first got my car i'd take it to Grease Monkey to do my oil changes, but I like saving the extra money on labor and doing it myself now. I had asked them about their tranny flushes one time and they gave me a $20 discount for the next time I came in to get it done and they did a great job and it cost me around $100 for a full tranny flush.
Im not sure if there are any Grease Monkey's in Ohio "Tygerr", but if there are take it to them and I'm sure you'll be happy with the results.

So doing it at home isn't as good as taking it to a dealer? What does the machine do differently?

go to ur local jiffy lube or a place that does oil. i use to work a jiffy lube and we have a 15,000 machine that does the transfer from bad to good in about 10 mins. pretty cool stuff.
