ok so i just got a set of 01 guages and put them in my 00 cougar...everything hooked up right they function and work perfictally...other than a little needle stickage...but one strange thing...my cruise control light is always on...i cant get it to go off...ive tried turning on and off the cruise control.. nothin...anyone have any ideas?? oh yea but it does go off when i turn the headlights on...which makes it all the more strange...it doesnt effect anything that ive found but its just annoying having that green light on all the time...

sounds like maybe a wiring harness difference between the model years, but i dunno for sure. strange!

You may want to try removing the layouts and swap the needles as well. The '01+ cougars might have a curise control light that '99-00 cougars do not have.

Even simpler.... the 99-00 cluster had no cruise control light but the newer models do. This has nothing do do with wiring. Simply pull the bulb and forget it.

oh thats all i have to do? i had thought about just disconnecting the light but i wasnt sure if it was that easy... well that is good to know thank you very much fro your help!
