I was just wondering who all has their windows tinted here, as well as a few other questions:

1.) How much did you pay to get it done?
2.) What % did you get?
3.) Have you ever gotten pulled over for your tint?
4.) If so, did you have to pay a fine and how much was it.

I'm debating on whether or not to get my windows tinted, but if I'm gonna get fines for it, or have to remove it, I don't know if it's worth it. That'll be a waste of $160! Oh, and would I have less of a chance of getting pulled over if the passenger and drivers side windows are not tinted? Thanks for the help!

My windows were tinted when I got it so I don't know how much it cost. I have 10% in the rear and never had problems. I had it on the front but I took that off right away. I could barely see out of it!

I had 35% on the sides and 20% on the rear window of my GTP. I paid $150 for all 5 windows. I did get a written warning from a state trooper the only time I got pulled over in it.

I have 35% on the front side windows on my Blazer, when I got pulled over in that, the state trooper did not say a thing about it.

My first cougar was 20% fronts and 5% all around the back. My second cougar had 15% all the way around. I was never pulled over for my tint however after being pulled over it was mentioned a couple times but i was never ticketed or warned. I think i paid somewhere between $2-250 when i got them done. Try to find somewhere that offers a lifetime warranty because that means they stand behind their work and will fix it if by chance it bubbles. Also make sure they use a one piece rear window, some places do 2 or 3 and they try to match the cuts up with your defrost lines but it doesnt always come out looking too good and sometimes the lines are very noticeable. Im pretty sure, not positive but i think its a $93 ticket if they issue you one. Ill be getting my SRT4 done around Christmas and im probably going 30% or 35% because i just want something subtle this time around.

OJE, You have 5% all around back!!! If you didn't get a ticket for that, then they must not care too much about tinting. The darkest I'll go in the back is 15% and probably about 25 or 30 on the drivers and passengers side. Does it look dumb having two shades like that? I know that cops do not like dark tint on the drivers side and passenger side windows b/c they can't see what your doing if they pull you over. I guess as long as you have your window down when they come around, your all right.

Thanks for the input, guys!

I've had both my last truck and my current F-150 tinted out...never had the Cougar done. In both cases, I did it myself...it isn't really that hard. I used the Gila 5%, which has only 2% light transmission. Needless to say, it was DARK.

The police are pricks in my town about anything that has been done to a vehicle, especially tint, so I have to be really careful. In a truck it is legal to have the back windows as dark as you want, but you can't have anything at all on the doors, so I usually just roll my windows down in town. I scrape off the door tint each fall and re-tint them in the spring...it's a little cold to keep the windows down in the wintertime :)

With the Cougar, I'm never going to even attempt to tint the windows...I'd get busted in a second.

wadespencer99--> Seems like a big pain in the butt to me! Seems expensive too! Can you even see through that?!? 2%!?!

Not a pain at all. A roll of tint is only like $12.00 for the good Gila stuff. It only takes about 5 minutes to pull it off and clean the window when I take it off the doors windows in the fall, and maybe another 30 minutes to retint the door windows in the spring. Keep in mind that truck windows are really easy to tint. They are flat and mostly square...lol. The police in my town are the only ones in the area that are pricks about tint, so if I have them tinted, I have to keep my door windows rolled down.

The 5% is really dark....a little hard to see out at night, but you get used to it I guess. You can't see anything at all looking into the car though...I like that :)

When I get home tonight I'll see if I might have a picture somewhere of what my Nissan looked like when the windows were tinted...I know I don't have one of the F150 though...I'll see what I can find.

Got mine tinted about a year ago just after I got the car. 45% on the front doors and 30% in the back...I think it is dark enough and when I have been pulled over that isn't what I got a ticket for and the cop never mentioned it. I do know people with darker that have had to pull it off to keep from getting the fine for it.

My cougars been tinted for 3 years... I'v gotten pulled over for plenty of times for things...from speeding to running redlights to having illiegal lights on (windsheild washer leds) i know to ricey for some...anyway but never had a problem. Untill last month i was next to a cop,got in the turning lane he followed and pulled me over. He called for backup to bring some tint reader thing...it said i had 16% on my passanger side and driver side...which i do have and the rest are 5%. Ticket was $100.00 so i just paid it. He gave me an option of peeling it off. But i chose not to. Then they were all complementing me on my car...saying how "Pimped Out" it was????? Trying to be friends or something.

By the way this was in Center Valley/ Coopersburg on Rt 309 and Passer Rd.

Sorry so long...dont post to often

Yea lotus i had 5% all around the back, wasnt too bad. The problem with the law isnt your back windows. Your rear windshield and rear side windows or rear doors on a 4 door can be as dark as you want. Its the front windows that will get you a ticket. The law is very shady and it usually just comes down to the cop and if they want to ticket you or not. The most recent thing i have heard, from a cop, is that you are not allowed to tint the front windows at all. Others will say it can be a certain percentage and your fine. Its one of those things that you know getting done you could get a ticket so you just have to accept it and if you cant then you probably shouldnt get it done.

If a cop uses a tint meter of some sort on your side window ask him to test it on your front windshield for accuracy, it should come up 100% and if it doesnt you should be able to get out of the ticket or that will help you fight it in court. A friend of mine got the cop to do it and it read 95% so the cop let him go. Another friend tried and the cop told him he didnt have to test the windshield to prove the accuracy so it just depends on the cop, but if you get a dumb one you may luck out.

In my tiny-ass little town, where the police are very bored, you can have absolutely nothing on any window of any car. You cannot tint the back windows in a car...you'll get nailed the same day. Trucks, vans, and SUVs can have the back windows tinted, but nothing on the front.

OJE: Insteresting idea on the tint meter on the windshield thing...I like that!

EricF: How exactly did you talk your way out the ticket?

i believe mine are about -5, you can barely see out at night. and there is no chance you can see in during the day

The place that I got mine done has a disclaimer....it says something along the lines of ALL GOOD tint is illegal in PA. If it is still legal then you can't even tell the glass is tinted. Just remember the fine is about $100. To get it done about $150, depending on where you go and quailty and all that. Cheaper to pay the fine, or pull an Eric
