Well since ive moved up here, my insatiable urge for more ink has me looking for a good parlor up here. I dont remember how many of you had something, but if you know of any great studios let me know. Within an hour or so of Princeton/Hightstown would be ideal. I dont know the next time i'd be home, so im looking up here.
Im trying to find a place as close to my home studio as possible in certain cleanliness ways. Hospital styled sterilization. One use needles, inks, etc... I'm also looking at price as well. I know good tats arent cheap and cheap tats arent always good....but i do like to get a good deal :wiggle:
It'd be nice if they took credit cards as well, since im sure the cost of what i want will vary and its good to just let it ride on mastercards bill

You can go to the place I went to...pricing isn't too bad, and they do take CC's. They are very clean, and use fresh new clean needles every time.
The place is about 20min south of me...should be no more than a hour from where you are...Just take I95 to 195, and get off on Rt 9 North...about 2 min from there.

Brian....thats a god aweful annoying site, especially if you have the volume way up on the speakers ;)
I may have to check it out. Guy seems decent and he certainly covered all of my "habits" for sterilization and what not.
Jeremy, whats the name of the place you went to? I'd like to check them out as well, see how they work and what not.
We can make it an official meet, since we dont do any of those anymore

as far as standards for sterilization go, I think it's MANDATORY that all places use new needles, and all the other stuff involved. This is the way all places are in NY, even if some shops make their own needles. (I got my last tatoo done in a shop where they make their own needles using 3-5 needles for 1 in order to make a needle that filled in color better... kinda like brush size. But, I pretty sure most of them have to meet a certain standard now in order to keep their license.
I can't wait till I have more disposable income to have some cooler tatoos.

While the law may require certain standards, plenty of places....especially ones i found where i used to live, always look clean and good for inspection but have been known to shave costs to the untrained customer. A shop by me was busted a couple years back for it. PLace was immaculate in one of the parlors which they claimed as "the tattoo studio" but what they were doing was keeping that one station clean and nice, but for the generic walk-ins and such, you sat in a chair and the guy just simply brought you everything, never showing if it was freshly opened or anything.
My studio by my house opens everything in front of your eyes. Gives you a tour of the facility and shows you the needles being opened and the autoclave and everything way before you eve sign up to get the tat. Thats my kinda shop

The places I have been show you everything opened up and then even made me come back and look at him destroying the needles. I havn't been to that many shops, but I'd figure with the popularity these days of tatoos, it wouldn't be worth it to not follow those regulations. Oh well.

The place I went to does everything right in front of you, like a place should.
Opened all needles in front of me, used the proper disposable caps for the ink, and swapped needles a couple times during the job. Oe of the needles he didn't like how it looked when he opened it, and just threw it out and used another.
All in all, I would go back to the same place for another...

That would be an awesome tribute to my small tools...
I thank you for thinking of them when wanting to get a tattoo... ;)
I know your looking to probably stay in NJ but if you want to travel to PA i know an excellent shop. Its the only place ill get a tat done and they have done 3 of mine and do very nice work. They are very clean, i know for a fact they do everything right because my cousins husband works there and is one of the best portrait tattoo artists in the country (not my personal opinion, ive read articles on him and he does conventions all over the country). They are fair on pricing and also take credit cards.

Sorry man, been a while since i checked back. They arent that far from philly if you took 95 to 476 and then it wouldnt be far from there at all. Heres there addy and number if you want to look up directions or give them a call. I think their hours during the week are 1-9 on most days but just give em a call and make sure before you drive all the way out.
