I am putting in a new clutch on my cougar (2.5L).
When I flushed the fluid in it last time I had to use the Ford stuff.
Does anyone know if putting synthetic in it will hurt or help? Syncro or something like that is the name I am looking at using?
Let me know so I can get this done soon.

People use typically use Red Line MTL, or Mobil 1 ATF with Ford Friction Modifier...there are many debates on what is right, wrong, preferred, etc...

Redline MTL or Pennzoil Syncromesh are the best options.
Ford honey with the XM-7 added is good as well but VERY expensive. Not worth the money IMO.

I would stay away from the less protective ATF fluids.

However dino ATF+3 is good for break in of a fresh MTX though.
