alternator and battery questions

my boss is giving me a $2000 bonus/coupon to one of his I.C.E stores so im having a new alpin deck, amp, two 12's, and the ipod adapter installed and i was just wondering if i would need to upgrade my alternator and battery or just one them .....or any at all

here are the items im gettin installed...

also does anyone know a larger alternator from another car that i could get to keep up...( if i need one )

well if the money is free then i would but other then that i wouldnt I am running an elemental designs NiNe.1 pushing 1 12 and this amp is pushing 1200w x 1 @ 1ohm and mine is doing ok

i guess im just goin to leave it and possibly head to the scrap yard to pick up a larger alternator......if can't hurt to get one thats large enough/ powerfull enough to keep this goin smoothly...

good luck trying to find one that will fit a cougar that is bigger then stock i have tried 5 junk yards around here and have found only 2 stock ones....

If you are getting 2k in free stuff... why go with all alpine? Why not something higher quality? JBL... JL... etc... Alpine is nice, but speaking from seeing one on a signal generator and o scope bench, they arent very clean power... :shrug: Just my $.02

well the store only had alpine and i was getting a 40% discount plus its better than my bluapunk stuff now ( and my factory head unit)

ok kinda on topic.... i have 2 12" infinity subs with a Alpine mono amp and a Alpine h/u..... love them all but when my alternator died, i replaced that and my battery(why not it was on warrenty) and after i hooked them up my subs arnt working...there is power going to the amp, the fuses are all good, the head unit has the subs on, i checked all the cords (power, ground, remote, and rca's). i cant find anything to be wrong. im debateing going to a car audio shop and paying them the 30 bucks to check it out but dont want to pay the money if there like "i have no idea whats going on, cant help u".... looking for your two cents

got a digital volt meter?? if so set it to dc volts and read across the speaker out puts on the amp with music playing that will tell u if anything is even getting there if not there must be something inside the amp or it might be the rca's ...if the power light is on on the amp thats all i can figure......

ya i went to "car tunes" yesterday and they hooked up a test speaker and the amp was done, so i have to get a new amp... thanks

well i got my system on tuesday and its awesome.....i went to pic up a friend a couple blocks away and with my music turned to less than half he heard me a block away......im happy....
