Well anyways they had a tacoma truck(i think it was) and they had a turbo mounted underneath the car inplace of the muffler. From the engine bay they had a pipe run from the engine, thru the fenderfell to the turbo behind the backwheels here it had its own air intake and then out of the other end it just had a tube with a chrome tip on it for the exhaust. The tubing in the engine bay just looked like a normal CAI but it was hooked up to a turbo. i thought this was very interesting because i konw we cant really fit turbo kits in our engine bays, especially the ATX's because of space issues. But anyways the company was STS but i cant remember what it standed for. i cant find their web site either but i was interested into calling them or contacting them to see if there was anyway they could make a kit for the cougar, or anything, heck i dont know it caught my attention. Ill try to get the magazine back soon and ill post the pics they had.

I think someone else had post a similar thing awhile back but it was on a Trans Am or Camaro, I believe. If I recall the biggest problem with those is due to the length of the tubing you lose pressure therefore lost boost, which is why a lot of people rip on them. My take on that is so what! If you have a stock ATX cougar you wouldn't want to run much boost anyways, so what's the big deal. I personally think that would be a great alternative for an ATX cougar, but I don't know all the details needed to get something like that to work right. I would think that you could take something like the streetflight turbo and just have some custom pipes made so you could relocate it to under the car. Anyone else with more knowledge want to comment.

yeah im not excatly sure about what is all needed or what not, but i remember them talking about boost pressure and they had something that reduced it to a minimum, ill get it within the next few days and post what it says with pics.

con someone saw "turbo l-a-g" ?
Longer piping makes the turbo lag worse and decreases the efficency of the turbo, so 2 psi on a notmal install vs. the 2psi on a rear mount install will result in very diffrent numbers.
But some turbo is better than no turbo!

IMO,
Wouldnt the biggest worry be about sucking in water from a puddle or road garbage hitting the intake and or rubbing on a speed bump? As far as tubo lag I would think there would be more due to the ammount of pipe but not really enough to be noticed.... And as for the loss of boost once you are spooled it wouldnt matter how much pipe you had as long as you didnt have a leak. I think you would end up with the same pressure at the end of the pipe as was at the opening of the turbo, but i could be wrong.... somebody teach me if i am.... one thing for sure no under hood heat and a cooler intake charge would result.
