Run the Tail of the Dragon! OCT 13-16

Its about thate time! For all of you who where at CougarFest may have heard me mention the Tail of the Dragon.....and that I wanted to arrange a meet for all to join me as I tear it up on US129.

The Tail of the Dragon (http://www.tailofthedragon.com/index.html) is a famous (infamous?) stretch of US 129 in the Smoky Mountains, loved by motorcyclists and auto enthusiasts.... Gulfcat and I drove it on the way to CougarFest and had a BLAST!

I'll be staying at Tapoco lodge (http://www.tapocolodge.com/index.html). Shows rates between 59 and 79 per night....as you can see from their website they are quite accustom to auto enthusiasts. :biggrin:

Anyone who has some input please post here. If these dates are too soon please let me know!

I can do the second and third but have to work the fourth but it's only a 6 hour drive for me so I will be there, If I can

I drove the Dragon on the way home from Fest in 2004 & to Fest in 2005 (with GMK), and had a blast.

ROOM-MATE(S) WANTED

I'd really like to stay at The Tapoco Lodge (http://www.tapocolodge.com/index.html). It is on the Dragon's south end & is a wonderful early 1900s lodge (pool, TV lounge, game room with pool table) & cabins, and a hose you can use for car-washing. Peg & I stayed there on the way to Fest 2005 & really liked it and its food. Only bad point - expensive!! So, I need others to rent a cabin with. Anyone interested enough for me to get more info?

Cheaper alternative: a 2 bedroom suite at the Robbinsville, NC, Microtel that's listed on the Dragon websites. It's rates page (http://www.microtelrobbinsville.com/rates.html) starts at $59.95, and the map pages on its site were all done by a guy who does most of the maps on the Dragon website, so it must be used to Dragon riders/drivers.

Anyone want to caravan up Friday afternoon and/or back Monday/Tuesday? Google says it's 13 hours from Tampa to Robbinsville, Expedia says it's 11 hours.

(I plan to leave Mon, because Peg has it off from school, or Tues if we've both had perfect attendance records & I figure we can get away with it;)).
