I dod not know very much about audio. But when it is a hot day, my amp thumps my subs so hard the rear view mirror keeps falling down. But like on cool days it just thumps decent. Why is that? should I keep heat on my amp?

Heat is wasted energy/power...heat on amp = BAD IDEA. Maybe your amp puts out more wattage when all the internal components are warmed up (hot day).

I think its basic physics... of course I dropped that in college,
But sound travels better in the summer(hot) vs the winter(cold)

thanks, I thought about it when I got my exhaust.

but back to the subject, so u think my car will sound like that if I just run my heater and let the car get full of hot air?

That doesn't sound so comfortable...haha...

Maybe your mirror is more likely to fall if it is hot out?

I've always heard that SPL will be higher when the temperature in the car is colder, but after doing some research, this is what I found:
TEMPERATURE - Microphone diaphragms are significantly affected by temperature. I don't know if any of you play the drums, but I can tell you that when a drum head gets cold, it gets very tight. When it gets warm, it gets loose. This is because temperature affects the tension of the drum head. Tension variations of the mic diaphragm will adversely affect SPL measurements.

That site is an ad for some kind of microphone or something, but maybe it's true...I couldn't find much on it, and I looked at a couple of good car audio sites. The only thing to really do is have your SPL measured somehow I guess...

yeah...mine does too. Sounds like an excuse to mold a monitor up there and use a rear camera to me.

I was actually considering some sort of adjustable mounts for the rear view, like two little rods on a suction cup, one for each bottom cover. My problem is that when the bass is POUNDING it just faces down more and more until all I can see is seat in my mirror. By doing that I could adjust it to the angle I want and I think it would keep it lined up. I think it might also look kind of cool since it would definately be something different. Maybe I'll give that a ghetto try and if it works refine it. Havn't had my mirror fall off at all though. Though, that did happen a lot with my Jeep.
