Hey everyone, I'm heading down for the race at Nazareth Speedway August 29 for the IRL race, the Firestone Indy 225. I was just wondering if anyone else had plans to go to this race. I'm coming from NY, so it would be nice to meet some other members from Keystone.

my brother went to the Busch Cup race there, I guess it was the last one. So, we are going to check out the IRL race. I've never been to the track, but how are the races? Is it a fast track or what? And how come you're no longer working security? I know a lot of tracks do volunteering for corner workers and such, was that what this was and you just had no time?

Philly SCCA volunteers workers in exchange for use of the infield area for autocrossing,
I'm no longer in PA, so i can't make it anymore...
Nazareth is called "the fastest mile" or something like that..
its a fast track
from the infield its tough to see everything,
but I used to work pits, and that was fun, I have more fun looking at the gadgets than watching the race.

well, I sort of agree there. Lime Rock raceway is a stone's throw from me, and you are freely allowed to walk through the pits. I love looking at everything and watch them work as they get ready for the race after practice or get into a crash or whatever, but the race is still the part I can't miss. Nothing like being at the fence about 10 feet from the track as far come around the first turn bumping and grinding... you get high off of the fumes from the gas and tires, I LOVE it. I wish they could bottle up that smell for an air freshener.

I'll tell you whats better than that... standing at the end of pit lane, as the drivers are leaving..
and then at the first turn after the green drops... no fences.... LOL.....

Good luck hope you have fun there, I used to get free tickets... but who knows I haven't checked my mail in a while.

well, lime rock is always looking for local volunteers to help work the corners, but the only thing stopping me is that I can never guarantee when I'll be around. Otherwise I would be there in a heartbeat. A year of free races!! woohoo!! I am not sure if it's part of SCCA or not, but the Mazda Miata cup is the coolest thing. Pretty much all stock 1st gen miatas (hardtop, rollcage, race wheels, exhaust, and that's about it) but because the cars are cheap and stock they don't have much worries about banging them up. It's great fun and believe it or not, great racing in general. Never been to an IRL race, looking forward to it. Probably not as good as the SPEED GT and TC series, but that's okay, not much is ;)
