I was offered a position at Kreative Import Technology in Sacramento CA starting in January to head up new product development and marketing. I've been doing prototype body kits for the last 18 months and now it's finally looking like it will pay off. The offer was very good and I'm 99% sure that I'll be going. I'll still be co owner of Krazy Kustomz Online and be active on the forums and e-mail support.
I am concearned about emissions on my Cougar since it is turbocharged. It does have a catalytic converter on it but the car is definately far from stock. Is there an emissions exemption under a certain mileage like in PA we have 3,000 miles before it has to pass emissions.
I plan on buying another cougar in the $6k range to use as a daily driver but would like to enjoy my current cougar some while I'm out there enjoying the CA sun.
Anyone in the Sacramento Area?

Congrats on the new position. At this time I'm only aware of one cougar in the sac area..and thats Tigger, however he hasn't been on in sometime. Vizual is up in Chico, I don't think thats too far from there. There there is Vick(former coug owner and bmichael(owns a focus now) and there is also flummox(CSVT owner) that about sums up our Sac crew..
As far as your turbo goes..well, you might want to start making friends with some emissions guys real quick...Becasue unless that Turbo is stickered Carb Legal, you wil have some issues :(
 Welcome to California

legally you have 6 months to change your plates from when you ofically start here.
i think after that its 90 days to set all smog certs ect.
so like 9 months max
you have some time // cali is like no other one nice day to the next.

I may just register it in PA again and transfer it to my dad's name. The car doesn't see more than 3000 miles a year and most of that was going to shows. The car will be at our development center and kept inside mostly. I just want to enjoy it some :)
Anyone know of any 99 or 00 cougars for sale in the 6-7k range in Nor Cal? has to be a v6 mtx sport model and prefer. black so the color change to orange will be easy in the engine bay :)
flango.
have you ever considered pastel pink.
mixed with brown graphics.
its mad sick dog.

If you have a 'friend' at a shop in PA that can get you updated reg tags, then just keep the PA tags and pay the reg fees for PA. Reg fees in CA suck anyway (From 140-190 a year for a Cougar). Vehicles don't have to be smogged for the first 4 years, but after that they must be smogged, so your 99 Cougar qualifies now for Smog.
SacTo isn't far from the Bay Area, about a 1-1.5hr drive (which is pansy sh!t for us bay area folks)

My Mom drove my cougar in L.A. for a little over a year with Ontario Plates. All we did was mail her the liscense sticker. Then when she got a ticket, all she said was the car was still registered in Canada. She was living in L.A. at the time. She showed the Canadian Insurance slip and her California drivers liscense....and was on her way. So I "think" (don't quote me) if you just kept your insurance in PA and your plates in PA, if you knew an emmissions guy, just get the slip and you're good to go.
And I'll definately be visiting next time I'm in the L.A. area....it would be worth the drive to see your car again. God....Last time I saw it was just after it was painted....wasn't it the day or 2 later lol....
As I allready told you though....best of luck with the move.

or you can all move to Indiana. no emissions regs at all, no front license plates, and short drive to CF every year now!

Craig, I'm here in Sacramento also (Igotta frequent these boards!.) If you are looking for a place to rent or stay, let me know. I have a nice house off of Folsom and Watt near some really good industrial parks and a prime spot for shops...Plus my other roomates are all females...LOL. Rent is cheap, and I think I can fit a hellicopter in my back yard! Thats where I do most my work.

Well hopefully, welcome to Sacramento. I looked up some information on DMV requirements and it looks like you may have just 20 days to get registered and smog compliant. Here's the link to the DMV page for newcomers to CA.
DMV New to CA Info (http://www.dmv.ca.gov/newtoca/newtoca.htm)
You can also call at 1-800-777-0133
I'm pretty much not active on the boards for the most part, but I still check in here fairly often. I'll try to be more active again if I can.
Hey all, I've got Sundays off this month. Maybe we can have a meet that I can actually go to for a change. Ya think?

I plan to leave it in pa registration as long as possible as my dad was a co signer for the car and I can register and insure it under his name in pa. The car would not be daily driven and would only be used on weekends and car shows.

I'll be out there roughly 10/18-11/7 I'll post for sure when i'll be there. I'm going out to build our sema scion tC that I just did a widebody kit for. We're installing the kit and molding the seams and adding some quarter panel vents and prepping it for paint. When it's done we head to vegas for the show.

tC stands for "third car" ghey IMO.
it's because of the two other scions that came out before it.
Ty C would have been a better name for it. :)

i signed a lease today at Somerfield At Lakeside it's less than 5 minutes from the new warehouse I'll be working out of. We move to the new warehouse in december and I'll be moving out from PA Dec 1. Somerfield had some great specials and was very nice with lots of amenities.
btw how is comcast for cable and internet in elk grove?

Comcast is good- all of my coworkers from Apple at the Elk Grove site who live in the area use it for personal and for work use, and they have no complaints.
