Schedule of events for friday;
10am start working on the ZEX Kit. This might be a little later or earlier depending when I get back from the gym and showered.
Work on everyones car all day and I figure we can be done like 5ish at the latest working but who knows.
Friday night, As soon as we are all cleaned up and everyones here, we ll caravan to Mansfield Motor Speedway (http://www.mansfield-speedway.com/) and watch the racing and since there is a PARTY after, we ll hang out for that then go Cruise all along the strip.
We ll cookout all day and can just eat dinner at the Speedway as the food is pretty good.

My addy is 539 Inwood Dr. Mansfield, OH 44903. Cell=419-610-5666(please add me to your phone book if you dont have me)

And I believe I have some female friends coming from school so thats cool too! So peeps plan to stay the night if you dont have anything saturday because well.... It might get ugly ;) !

Basically, this is an open invite. The ZEX kit is supposed to be here Wednesday or Thursday(latest) and I will be installing it bright and early friday morning before working on everyone else car.
The arming switch, and wires are all ran, its just a matter of getting the kit and putting everything back in that Im about to take out lol.

And mounting the bottle in the right place because I dont like the mounting now, mainly because the brackets I had were the cheapest plastic looking crap Ive ever seen lol.

Please feel free to post if youd like to join at all. I work saturday at 9 but will deff. be out Friday night trying to find a little racing to be done. And at the races and the Party afterwards!

Dude, you know since you're only an hour away I'd be down for helping, or at least watching ;), but some of us work 7 to 4 :( Come on, have a little sympathy for the working stiff!

Good luck on the install anyway

On ZEXs website it says you can have it done in 3-4 hrs. I was like, wow, thats pretty dope since I already have most of it done, for practice lol.

I ll start about 9am I figure and end right before lunch. Might make it 10am and hit the gym first who knows. But if anyone wants to hangout that night and cruise etc. they are more then welcome. I bet Pyro shows up, because well he is badass and helped me with the first install of the nitrous, and the headers too lol.

Everyones invited!!

Eh, why not, i'll be there friday morning after i get off work.

John, what's the time table for the day then? I should have my gaskets for the svt uim/lim and throttle body and then i'll be ready to swap in all that stuff. Think we could do that while i'm there? Only problem is that my stock manifolds will probably be nice and hot, lol. When do you plan on doing your DMD as well? Hopefully i'll be getting mine in here soon as well.

I'm working all day Friday but you know I'd be there if I could dude.

Anyway did you buy that bottle heater from George/DgnZcoug?
At Fest he offered it to me and I asked if he
would hold it until the next Friday and he said yes "it's yours man"

But I Pm'd him and he hasn't responded back.
either way it's ok I just need to know so I can go buy a new one
cause I NEED ONE BAD!!! can't get my psi over 800 without it:thumbsdn:

oh and make plans to go to the track John! cause we are going mister

Mike,
Nope I got RPM window switch and Heater from Yoha's old kit. Im just keeping them and using those 2 things on the ZEX kit. I also might add an extra bottle since we have one and just buy the -4an hose and adapter plug from ZEX for the kit.

Also, I got a place to get heaters and all your accessories WAY cheaper.... Im getting my Blow Down Tube, Twin Purge Kit, and Purge Kit from them tomorrow morning and getting like 2-3 day shipping too so I can do it all at once. Link to Dyno Tune Store (http://www.dynotune.org/store/Scripts/default.asp)

Check that place out mang, its got everything WAYYYY Cheaper.

Brian, dont plan to come too early, because well, Thursday night me and Yoha are going to tear into it after work, because I only work til 6 so I figured WTF, might as well, however I doubt we do much, actually we might do nothing and just try to fix his cars electrical issue instead.

But I would say if you wanna head at like 10 we ll get some stuff done then and be running by like noon-1. Im not going to do my DMD even though its sitting at my house, because I heard you realllly need air tools, so I figure I can do that and my high flow cat next week in Jersey.

Although who knows, I got the stuff to do it, and well.... okay we ll probably do the DMD, MIKE!!! Can you just get me a quick how to on that? Just pull the belt off, then replace the old dampener with the DMD right? But getting the old bolt out is the trick right? I only have 18k on mine and no snow/ little rain so I doubt corrosion will matter...

Also, Mike, yes I totally plan to hit the track soon. Like I would love to go before I go back to school, but I dunno if thats possible or not. But even like Sept. Oct, when it gets a little cooler out ;) Id be total game.

I figure friday afternoon/night, I ll probably go through a full bottle before the days over LOL, jk but through the weekend since I dont work that late, I probably will. I need to make some cash too so it might be time to do some real racing for cash on the "streets" I got a few secret places that I know to race and I havent been there in a long time, so hopefully everyone forgets me, even though Ive never gone for cash lol.

Fridays plans=Start or Finish Install from 10-noon/1ish, Brians UIM, LIM, and TB and anything else you get by then, and then friday night, CRUISE and hangout. I doubt Ill be drinking though because Im trying to get back in shape in like 10 days lol.

Even though I have to work 7am - 5:30pm, seriously, what about the rest of us who have actual jobs? Since you're only an hour I'd come down and hang out. I could at least be the one getting beer and pizza for the mechanics  If you're still at it later, MAYBE I'll leave the house around 7-ish to get me there at 8-ish.

1.) pull off passenger side wheel and remove plastic wheel well
2.) Rlease tension then remove serpentine belt
3.) Remove center crank pulley bolt (18mm) will probably need air impact considering
how easy it is to turn the motor over by hand
4.) Remove stock pulley with harmonic balancer puller (wheel puller)
5.) put a little bit of RTV sealer on keyway (crank shaft)
6.) Torque center crank bolt to 89lb-ft, loosen the bolt a minimum of one full turn, then tighten
bolt 39lb-ft and rotate an additional 85 degrees
7.) possibly install new gates belt depending on the size of the pulley compared to stock.

start the motor and look for wobble

mike

Mike, thanks. Deffinently going to wait for air tools and a lift to do that one. But that ll be next week. Im sure itll be that much easier with those 2 things, and a mechanics knowledge too, so I ll take a rain check and just focus on the ZEX, Brake Pads, and SVT UIM/LIM/TB....

Thanks for the writeup though!!

I cant wait to get my baby "loaded with spray" lol man I feel weird saying that. I still have no word if Miguel has shipped it or not, so Im going to PM him now, and well, might have to have it overnighted....

Thanks!

Yeah whats the plan for Fri. night I might be up for it...
Is it worth it for us 9-5ers coming down?

Madcat
08-10-2004, 04:34 PM
Yes, most in attendance will be 9-5ers. We ll hit Mansfield Speedway about 6-7 depending when everyone gets here, and watch racing until 10ish, then theres 2 dollar beers and a live DJ and party at the Speedway, which we ll attend for a bit, then we ll head about 5 mins away to cruise on Park Ave. Some people have been out there before and we always have a great time, so I feel ited be a great idea to show up after worrk.

The races will be sweet too, the Speedway is soo much nicer now and very very clean.

08-10-2004, 05:31 PM
Well sh!t, if even Bexcat is making the trip down, I may have to try to bow out early here and show up there, at least after the races... I may give you a call John to see where you are if I'm able to come up. Have fun :) even if I'm not there :(

Okay just bought the twin tubes for my purge kit, purge kit w/ solenoid, and blow down tube. These things probably wont be here til friday so it might be the last second installs before we head out, since I usually dont get UPS until 5pm, but FedEx comes in the morning at like 9 so lets hope its FedEx...

Now on my list.... ZEX Install, purge kit(only the kit itself not with the dual hose yet until I get my new hood), blow down tube, and then next week, DMD and High Flow Catalytic Converter... Man after these next 2 weeks, I think Im gonna have to run to Indy get a custom chip burned along with some serious dyno tuning from TJ...

Might have to wait til like October for that though. This month and next are just toooooo busy.

Hope alot of you can make it friday, Dads going to be heading to the races with me and cruising too, and if anyone has an FRS I can borrow thated be sweet. I wont have mine back til next week.

Dad in my Cougar with NOS, wow that might be an interesting night, thank god hes sweet like that!

You can all rest easy - Slade and I are coming. I asked him to call off UPS Friday nite and he's going to. So Jeff, you should probably definitely come. I don't know what time we're leaving, probably around 6:30 or so. We both have to work Saturday morning so we'll be going home. Can't wait to see you all - even though we just saw you guys at Fest!!

You can thank the complete A-holes I work with for being able to attend. We are short staffed this week and they are lazy A-holes so I think I will thank them by calling off and letting them do 4 times the work (cuz I literally do 4X the work they do) on a Friday night so they cant leave early. :kick:

I gotta work Saturday morning so prolly heading back after the track- dunno bout staying for the beer and all. See you in a few days. Hopefully my supercharger is installed by then...damn the extra fuel line...

Just so everyone knows, I wont be drinking much either, I got too much to do before work saturday and for the next 5 straight days.... Sat-Wed I work full 8hr days everyday, and well. I dont wanna loose any of my sanity at work because of being hungover saturday. I ll have a few beers, but nothing too serious. And yes for once Im being honest, Im not going to drink much at all, I figure after the track, 2-3 maybe 4 beers, hang for an hr then Ill be okay to drive as in BALC, so we can cruise. I ll be up saturday morning about 630am to get in the gym before I head to work too, so if anyone needs up because I know my friends from school work at 9am and live 2 hrs away, I ll be happy to get them up too.

I work saturday at 9 and will lift prior to that, so anyone staying is more then welcome!

Slade did you buy one of those sweet computer fans from Ebay that claim 20hp?? Because dude if so, order 2 I want 1 too!

I just got more good news and more stuff ordered from the local shop and it ll be here tomorrow, so basically, well.... Why only run 1 bottle of NOS, when you have an extra sitting around(getting filled right now) might as well, hook up both right???? Then I hit up a new shop next to my gym and well.... They have a 15lb bottle they wanted to GIVE me on the spot, I was like, ok seriouslly 3 bottles=35lbs of NOS would NOT be a good idea for me, especially when Im getting ready for some serious highway driving....

So 2 10lb bottles is fine by me, and after friday about 830 am Ill have both wired up and filled hehe...

silverkat
08-11-2004, 05:39 PM
So I'm informed that this fuel line thing is a new prototype that has a nitrogen cooling line spliced into the fuel rail.

john: why the hell didnt you take the bottle and sell it!? or give it to me? we can do a nitrous install for me tomorrow too :) although we wouldnt have the solenoids or the hose, or anything else, but we would alway just hook in into the gas tank

Its okay Mark, we ll let this slide this time.... But well, okay you're still a True BadAss and we all know it!! We ll hold it down TRUST me.

Im quitting my job tomorrow so its all good too, saturday Ill wake everyone up whenever they need to get up, and yes my friends are coming from school to join in the festivities, and a few local cougars are joining too. Bryce from Indy who rarely hits the boards and then Kurt a kid from work, with a Fed up sunroof :( So we ll see maybe we can ghetto close it? LOL.

JAMallott
08-12-2004, 03:37 AM

08-12-2004, 09:54 AM
I know, I know, I cant decide. Ill probably just keep going in, but that job is soo mindless and miserable, you dont even know.

Anyways, looks like NO purge kit or blow down tube. The stuff just shipped today I think, so maybe Ill get it saturday, but friday is a long shot...

Anyways, I got 1 bottle to pick up in a few mins before work, and getting my other one filled along with some more -4AN hosing and T fitting tomorrow at 8am from the local shop.

Tonight Yoha and I will probably have everything wired up and installed minus the T fitting and only 1 full and 1 empty bottle.

Shouldnt take that long, but I cant decide if I want to try to tap into the ECU for the RPM Window switch or just run it with the TPS sensor from the ZEX kit itself..

We ll take alot of pics.

1st off; no supercharger.

2nd- What is the plan for tomorrow night? I honestly want to just stay home and relax cuz Ive worked my ass off this week and need rest. I also need $$$ so the thought of driving down in the evening and droppin money at the track is not appealing. I dont wanna flat out bail John (cuz I know Jeff and George and others are counting on me) but gimme some details and convince me to go please. Cost for me to go if the tickets are $25 is actually closer to $135 ;)

Okay everyone, you know what.... I will be there!!!! I had the chance to go to Lake Erie and go wave running alllll day tomorrow and drink all day, but instead Im helping everyone else and chilling.

I got teh ZEX tonight, a full tank, 1 to fill tomorrow, and well..... Lots of other toys coming tomorrow I believe, purge kit and blow down etc.

Also Brian has some toys to install, so does Aaron, and anyone else who needs stuff installed, I think we ll buy air tools tomorrow sometime too and then be hooked up

Okay the ZEX will be in tonight unless I get a long phone call lol, but it ll be mostly done.

YES I WILL BE THERE!

Mods and food all day, about 7ish head to the races, OR just hangout and cruise if we dont wanan spend cash. Also the new movie theatre is open and HUGE parking lot so we could do that and cruise to save cash!!

08-12-2004, 11:28 PM
Hey I know that you can't set up everythign you are doing around one person, but if you guys go to the movies could you maybe wait until like a 9 o' clock or so? If not that is okay. I just don't want to get there and have missed out on everything. Once again I won't be leaving Akron until this meeting is over which should be about 8 o' clock and then I am headed straight there so John and Aaron keep your cell phones on and be listening for them sometime around 9. I can't wait.

08-12-2004, 11:30 PM
Okay just being a post ***** now, but I believe that this is now officially the longest post ever on Ohio NECO!

I guess if I ever want tons of people to come to my house I will just have to buy a nitrous kit and talk about having some ladies over! lol

Madcat
08-13-2004, 02:43 AM
:banhim: Dude post a little more right after each other lol. Anyhows, ya bro we ll wait til like 9ish to hit the movies if we go. I mean we might not even be done modding until that time anyways, depending what time some of Brians parts arrive at my house, because UPS comes after 330pm til 6pm usually.

I got about 75% of my setup in and wired, however I dont have a 11/32 drill bit or a large enough handle for the enclose tap to use. So tomorrow at 8am as I go get my ZEX tank filled with Nitrous, and a 3-4an line instead of my 2 footer to hookup both tanks at once, Ill be getting the drill bit and tap handle.

If I keep the 2 ft line Ill lose my sub, or have to ghetto rig it to fit OVER the line, which, well Nitrous comes first and all, but I need my sub too, so basically I need a longer line to route around the sub box.

Also, do you think it matter if the instructions say to put the fuse BEFORE the switch and not after it, coming from the power source? Because well.... I dont want to pull the dash again, and well, since I dont know how Id have to wait til 11 for Brian to do it, or try myself..... Its just the center counsel and the middle part with the stereo and stuff in it...??? I just dont feel like doing that too, but I guess I might as well, even with the errands I need to run I dont think it ll take more then 3 hrs to complete everything.

So bed time here, so I can wake up early and get at the shop at 8am, get paid at 805am, cash that, hit AAA to find out where to cash Chinese Currency(I got like 30 US bux) and then pick up my bottle and new 4an line and finish off the project. This is one of my better installs with much less ghetto fabbing then usual :)

Hope everyone can make it, I ll have my cell ALL day, 419-610-5666.

LinkMan
08-13-2004, 09:29 AM

I agree. I don't feel like spending any money. Movie money is OK, but I don't want to spend $25 for something I don't even want to watch. Sounds like plans are a little sketchy now so how about coming up with a plan :)

Oh yeah!! More good news the FAIR is in town. So I mean we could even go to that and just jack around there. Theres always something fun in the grandstand. So basically we ll kick it at my house then when everyone gets here figure it out.

I wish I had a big screen we could just watch a movie.

Okay, does anyone know how to take the dash and center counsel out? I havent looked and I think its only 4 screws, but basically its the middle counsle with the shifter, then where the radio goes... Thats it?

Thanks and off to run errands before I start again.

I don't know the dash removal stuff, I changed my mind on painting mine so never got Diane to show me, but the console is a piece of cake for the MTX since you've no O/D wires.

Two philips screws in the armrest cubbyhole, underneath the little rubber cover on the bottom.
Two philips screws under screw covers on each side up under the dash near your feet.
One big plastic friction fastener on each side that just pulls out.
Remove the ashtray or the non-smokers cubby hole by pressing up the friction piece on top and pulling out.
Two philips screws on either side of the ashtray/cubby hole location.
Loosen the shift boot from the shifter so the top of the shifter will go through the opening
Pull the E-brake handle up all the way, loosen the e-brake boot
(I think that's all the fasteners...)
Pull up on the rear of the console, tilt front down to clear the center dash, carefully lift over the e-brake handle and shifter.

Reverse removal instructions for install. ;)

(The tricky part of the console is the ATX shift plate and O/D wiring, which you don't have to worry about, and there are fastener differences between either 99/00 & 01/02 or Sport & Non-Sport, I'm not sure which)

Yeah just like linkman said. When I removed my center console and dash I had the whole thing done in literally like 30 minutes by myself. It is literally just a few screws. VERY VERY simple.

Also thanks for waiting up for me I will get there as quickly as I can. As I said 9pm at the latest

We are just about to wire up the purge valve(its installed) just not wired then we ll be testing everything over and over, mainly for leaks.

So yes, now Johnny has NOS lol. The ZEX kit and the NOS bottle(extra bottle) are both hooked up and purging perfectlly. No leaks(knock on wood) but I had to move my sub box to the back of my trunk now not the front like I had it, in order to still have room to haul things.

Anyways, cant wait for everyone to come down, I dunno if I ll make any runs or not before all you get here, but man Im ansy...

Thanks for having us John. Hope you get all the bugs worked out and the CEL goes away. I'm curious to know what it's saying - unless you all know and I'm, just stupid (I don't know too much about NOS)

Sorry if I dissapointed anyone. My meeting ended up going till 10 o clock and the second I got done with it I called John and he said there was really no point in coming down because no one was really doing anything. I just don't want anyone to get dissapointed at me, because I promise you I was coming down( I even took my whole lunch break on Friday just to detail my cougar up). The meeting was the worst ever and I got nothing out of it at all, because the whole time I just kept thinking when will this be over, when will this be over? I had waited all week for last night, but when John said there was no point then I didn't. Sorry guys, I was so looking forward to it.

John sorry to hear about the problem you are having. I hope that you get it worked out man.
