heres the dilema, my wife got a ticket and well the cop said we have to get the cars registered,ect.ect.
now if i go to a LEGIT smog testing place whats the worst they can do since i have a CAI
i need the car registered by next week.
putting the old system on is not an option yet...its buried in temporary storage..movers did a crappy job of labeling things
now will i be able to drive the car if i fail
i searched but my questioned is whats the worse they can do here in socal

you can borrow mine if needs be . . . but i dont think a CAI would cause you to not pass emissions

Depending on the brand...not all brands are 50 state CARB legal. What do you have?
Excel...I just changed mine out today...You are welcome to borrow it, but that is quite a drive for you.
As for registration and the smog test, you MAY be able to get a one month extension. DMV will give you a red sticker that will say "10" on it (for September)
I know my mom was able to get that so she would be able to replace her cat converter. I am not sure how far it would go as for a new CA registration, though.
Just say "We just moved here a while ago, and I need a while to get it smog ready" More than likely they will grant your request.

Hope I helped...any questions? PM me!

I think any modifications to a car in Cali need to have some kind of CARB approval sticker on them. I dont live in Cali, so im not sure, but I think thats what I've heard. I have heard everyone in Cali DMV are complete a$$holes, and they give people crap for putting ANYTHING on their car. Like I said, this is just heresay, since I dont live in Cali.

At this time there are no Carb Legal intakes for the coog. except maybe the AEM(not positive) If you go to a legit shop you havea slim possibility of passing with a High Flo cat..Headers would be a no pass because of the missing pre-cats. Intake- Well we already went over that. The rest is pretty normal I guess.

Excel, if you still need a stock intake to borrow, I am coming down to SD on Saturday night, so I could bring you one to borrow then :)

even if he did have an AEM intake . . . the cold air kit makes it not legal . . . i'm going to be quiet now :cover:

I think its not the cops, its the emmisions inspectors. If they see anything not stock, they ask for a CARB sticker. If you dont have one, they automatically fail you.

Thats understandable..but some officers to avoid the ref will ask you for the sticker as well so they don't have to go through the hassle ;)

you can pass with no precats... I've done it.

If you want to drive to San Bernardino I happen to know of a 'VERY legitimate' shop, if you know what I mean. I am under the impression that this guy passes most everybody if you talk to him right.
