well, i've taken too much time off of workin on my car, so i decided to get back to it today. workin on my custom visor-mounted 7.2" lcd screens. bought some used visors, ripped em apart, lengthened them slightly (taller), and cut out the front for the screen to fit in. now i just need to find some material to wrap the visors mount/wire the screens. here's what i got so far:

and here is the sacrifices that i put my stupid hand through in the process. exhibit 1 is pretty severe: i started cutting the front sides out with a dremel, well, it slipped, ran rampant, and went in right next to the knuckle about 1/8 inch! surprisingly didnt hurt that bad since the bit was so damn hot that it burnt the blood capillaries and nerve endings. kinda sick seein a hole in your hand tho.
exhibit 2 was another slip: i had to trim a little bit for the side of the screen to fit. i was using a box cutter for this, and slipped off and sliced across my finger. luckily the box cutter was pretty dull, or else that wouldve been pretty bad. kinda reminds me of opening my headlights and somehow managing to slice 1/8" off the end of my left thumb.
exhibit X: just shows that this isnt the first time my hand has been attacked. i believe those scars are from trying to pet a chained up pit bull... looked nice at the time.

nice. those will look good when there all done, and those visors will look sweet too.

i add to my scars on hand collection at least once a week. most recent event...belt sander meets ring finger. makes nice flat smooth "fingerprintless" spot.

all in all hope it turns out well and makes you happy.

Ha! I showed that to my wife and she says "that looks like you!" ugh. Looks good though. Chicks dig scars.

Out of general curiousity, have you turned them on yet? If those are the monitors i think they are, you are going to be disappointed by the picture. Again, if they are the ones i think they are they arent even active matrix...where did you get them?

If it is one of these (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=48609&item=5711483650&tc=photo) i would consider sending it back.

it looks like the same brand and overall design, but the writing on the top is different. so they might be different. unless the ones in the ebay pics are just an older model or something.

yea, i dont even remember what they were. i've played xbox on them already and they work good enough for me. i just dropped like $500 on my new headunit that also has a screen in it, so im not too worried about the quality of the ones up top. my buddies played xbox in my car, and they were just awe-struck with the whole fact of doing it. *note that i live in iowa....*
